That's a huge price for a Klimt. I have a feeling Picasso and Van Gogh prices have just skyrocketed due to that Klimt sale. I mean... if people are willing to plunk down that much cash for a Klimt, how much more for a Picasso or Van Gogh, right?

corvette 06-21-2006 03:51 PM

...or how much for his "the kiss"

LauLau 06-21-2006 03:58 PM

love yellow. wanna buy it

PimpDaddyPants 06-21-2006 04:12 PM

I agree with all of you. If anyone has any picasso or van gohn i'd get them re-appraised :)

Klimt is one of my faves

MaddCaz 06-21-2006 04:17 PM

I think feeding a small country for what you have hanging in your living room would suffice

Spunky 06-21-2006 04:18 PM

Crazy shit..some people have too much money

FTVBeauties 06-21-2006 04:51 PM

it has actual gold and silver in it, dramatically increasing the price...

or so the article says

AVM 06-21-2006 05:44 PM

Looks beautiful in my opinion, very settling to the eyes.
New thing to discover/reinterpret each time you look at it.

*But I wouldn't even spend $100 on it if it were the exact painting, no history, from a starving artist in some back-alley in NY. Art's subjectivty in it's valuation-model will never make me a buyer. Although I can respect some artwork.

Oh, I love Klimt!
I've collected his prints for years, but to own an original, just couldn't image.

'Portrait of Dr. Gachet'--one of Van Gogh's masterpieces and is considered as one of the most expensive paintings of all time has a current value of $117,000,000.. Jaw dropping but 'STILL', this value is expected to go higher by these coming years. :pimp

2HousePlague 06-21-2006 06:38 PM

"The Kiss" might have been worth that much.
