Story of Finding a Kitten and Lessons on Human Nature

My blog is http://Cyndalie.com

Part I

Found a kitten last night

We were coming home last night at like 1am when we heard this crying in the bushes in the building next to us. I squat down and see this tiny face meowing at me...

I put out my hand flat and talked softly to it and it came right up to me.. B said aw, we have to bring it in..I agreed. We already have 3 cats, but I'd never leave an animal out to get run over or worse...So we brought her in and fed her (she was hungry!). B ran to get some more litter and we set her up on the patio quarantined from our other cats. She used the litter box every time and was fine. This morning we flyered the neighborhood, put in a classified ad in the newspaper, and left a description with the Tri County Humane Society.

It has to be someones pet, to be so people friendly, litter trained, and just sweet. She's not spayed or declawed. I'm scared someone moved and left her behind. But they have been repainting the buildings and alot of patio screens are torn out. I really want to find her owner!

Here's a pic:

http://cyndalie.com/media/1/20060618-mail.jpg

I'll probablly take her to our cat vet tomorrow to get her checked out, I can't risk letting her mingle with our 3 purebreds. I guess my only option is to wait a week and keep putting up posters and then try and find her a home. I won't take her to the Humane Society unless I have to, but we REALLY DON'T WANT another cat. :( Damn curve balls in life! All I can say is this is one lucky kitty to find really nice and caring cat people. She is very calm and sweet, finding her a home shouldn't be hard, but finding her true owner would be AMAZING! Wish us luck!

Part II

Found a Kitten...Followup

Our neighbor girl (and roomates) who actually live in the apartment we found it next to, offered and then asked to take care of it until either the owner is found or indefinitely. (With our 3 cats going crazy, in Fl I felt bad about keeping it on the patio, even with a fan).

We hooked her up with everything it needs (litter box, litter, food, toys, etc) for the next few days. The ad will run through thrusday and the signs will be up for the next 2 days at least, and the Humane Society has a logged description/lost pet report..so I feel I've done all I can do.

We gave the girl a "kitten care" talk (I've raised 5 in 5 years..don't ask) and she can walk (or shout) or call if she has questions, and she agreed that if we find the owner (who will call US), she has no problem handing her over.

Yeay! 24 hour kitty rescue!

Part III

Found a Kitten: Followup Final - Found Owner

I AM &%$!@ FURIOUS!

Just got a call from the owner. He said they have 3 cats and his 'roommate' didn't want it so he let it out. He said the girls we gave it to can keep it (they live below him) and thanks for finding a home for it.

I want to report this &%$!@ to the ASPCA for abandonment.

To make it worse, he works for our apartment complex as a groundskeeper and is one of the aparments we left hand written notes at their doors at 3am Sat night. He calls us NOW (monday)???

I want to let management know about this asswipe. Scumbags!!!

But, the kitty is safe, the new owners are estactic and things worked out for the best. Slashing his tires wont help the situation but I really really am glad to have done the right thing here and protected the little guy and found him a home. I don't want to ruin that by throwing negativity into the mix.

BUT HIS TIME IS COMING...KARMA'S A BITCH!!!

Evil Chris 06-21-2006 11:45 AM

at least kitty has found a good home. :)

Whats so suprising about human nature? Everyone cares about their own priorities before others or even an animal. Heh thats just how people are.

Deej 06-21-2006 11:58 AM

cool :) last year , me and some friends stopped at a beach turn out...to "enjoy the view" ...anyway a hop skip and a jump off the beaten path and a great view in sight. we all start hearing lil mews....so small and tiny soudning, the rest of the bunch said, nah its a bird, but i kept hearing lil cat and i thought "how and why would a cat be here" (at the beach on a cliff)

so we almost leave and I say no way after a loud cry from the kitty....so i climb down the hilla lil....i see a movement in the bushes....i see a lil puff ball, sitting on a black plastic bag....for a split second i got enraged....all i could see was a motionless plastic bag...and one small, barely eyes opened kitty, enough to melt the rage away immediatly... so then i grab him and with dread in my heart i felt the plastic bag....

it moved....so i grabbed it...knowing i wasnt going to liek what I seen.....grabbed the lil guy outside and the bag and went back up the small hill....opened tha bag

3 more cats...soaked in piss, covered in ants, and all barely a week old....eyes openeing and shit....

I was sooo fuckin pissed. i stood there looking ....the only way they could have gotten where they were was some asshole probly not even bothering to stop his fuckin vehjicle and tossed those poor lil fuckers over a hill and down the other side into some bushes.,...

anyway....all is well now....my friend (she was with me when it happened) has 2 of them still and tyhey all grew up just fine :p 2 with other good homes and two i still see when i go visit....

fuckin people these days....they just dont think....humane society....neighbor....shit, put a kid at a gas station and make a buck or two or give them away for free....

no.....throw them away in a plastic bag over a hill in a bush.....

makes me want to start up my black jump suit/lead pipe coalition

The world is full of "people can be cruel" stories and they can really get us all inflamed. I'd rather focus on the heros who rescue these poor creatures and think that for all the inhumanity, many people WILL go out of their way to help when they find an animal/person in distress.

Exactly, the lesson I learned is that for every stupid asshole out there, there is someone caring, intelligent, and heroic enough to help clean up their mess.

Myst 06-21-2006 12:20 PM

um why would you care so much about a cat, but not feel any pain when there are thousands of cows or pigs or horses being slaughtered daily for human use

is it because the cat is cute and the other animals are not? god knows how angry youd be if the man instead of letting the cat roam free was to slaughter it and eat it for dinner

Well, if a cow wanders into the road, I feel worse for the car/person who hits it. If a baby pig was wandering around outside, or a horse, I'd call animal control. When you find what is obviously a lost pet, and you already own and care for 3 cats, you do what's right and find the frickin owner.

We can't change much in this world, but when the opportunity to do the right thing comes knocking, it never hurts to try.

thats good news. :thumbsup

That is really fucked up of that guy. He needs the ASPCA called on his ass. That way they can check on his other two cats to make sure they are ok. My black lab was abandoned on a farm when she was 11 months old. I adopted her from the pound almost two years ago. My german shepherd was abandoned and I adopted her from a rescue group. Their loss is my gain because they are great dogs.

Why not just kill the fucking cat and get it over with? Petrol + Cat = Dead Burnt Cat

Bdiddy 06-21-2006 10:16 PM

good job!

Its sadly apparent mama didn't give you enough tit and attention as a child.

Such a total waste of skin.

MosesTheTool 06-21-2006 10:29 PM

I have a dog, yep...
And I was driving and the car infront of me ran over a cat, I drove back to see if it's alive, and it was jumpin' around and shi', bleeding from the mouth, one eye poppin out.
If I wasn't straight, I'd puke. :\

Look dude? I love dogs, I own five of them. Dogs are literally mans best friend ? they are going to protect you at the cost of their own lives. My smallest dogs, a teacup chihuahua (yeah their really ain?t such a thing as a t-cup chihuahua, but he?s small enough to be one), jumped on top of my cousin?s rottweiler when he brought it during a visit. Pee-wee (chihuahua) charged and jumped up and just clamped on to the dog, trying to fight it. Thankfully Chief (rottweiler) didn?t really mind a flea biting him and he just shook him off.

Point is the little tiny dog was wiling to die to protect me from the obviously real threat of dying via a big ass chomp to the head. Would a cat do that? HELL NO IT WOULDN?T! If somebody breaks into your house right now and tries to kill you, you think a cat is going to come to your aide? No, the cat is going to stand back and just meow for more fucking food while you are getting ass-raped and strangled to death. Cats deserve nothing less than total annihilation off the face of this planet for their sins against humanity. Maybe if we kill enough of their asses they will start showing their masters some respect.

Nice touch by making it suffer like that :thumbsup If only we had a few more good souls like you maybe we could rid this Earth of feline filth once and for all.

Kitty found home, owner didnt want it, SPCA charges you to put it up for adoption and puts you through rigors and makes you feel about 3 inches tall. Anywho... tis all good

All this nonsense is supposed to change my opinion that you're an attention-seeking arsehole?

There's no justification for torturing and killing cats. EOS.

Fucking jackass.

No, it's supposed to show you are USELESS cats are you dumb fuck. If we don't stop cats now who will? Liberal hippies such as yourself? Fuck no, we have to do it now because if we don't cats will continue to drain humanity of valuable resources that could otherwise be spent on other productive venues, such as building matchstick houses and catching them on fire, or playing grabass with our american football buddies. Cats prevent any of us from achieving our goals in life - it's because they are pure evil incarnate and exist just for the sole purpose of sucking humans dry, like a succubus or a incubus (for the gals out there.. or fags). Anyways... torture enough cats, kill enough of them, and you are bound to stir an evolutionary response which makes them either A.) Start respecting their masters and become an animal worthy of being owned by the human race or B.) Cause them to grow two heads, making it twice as fun to kill them.

Cyndalie 06-22-2006 02:38 PM

I wasn't a cat person till I lived with one at 24 years old. They rule! They are so clean, low maintenance, and very smart and affectionate. I married a 2 dan blackbelt to protect my ass if someone breaks in. Every living thing has a purpose, a niche.. if you dont like it fuckin ignore them!

"While the rest of the human race are descended from monkeys, redheads derive from cats." -- Robert Heinlein

Cyndalie 06-22-2006 02:52 PM

You know, just to thank the girl for taking in the kitten I went to Pet Supermarket and got her a ton of stuff.. a scratching post for her to teach it where it's OK to scratch, 2 ceramic bowls (plastic spreads germs), Dry food (iams), 20 cans of food (nutromax & iams), and a bunch of toys. Gave her a litter box and litter, and she's all set up. You gotta watch out for the little guys!
