Photo ID for $10 Hosting Account?
 

Is this normal? I just signed up for an account and was asked for a photo ID. I could understand if I was buying some dedicated servers, but a $10 virtual hosting account? I've never seen this before.

NSA needs to have all this info

The only reason I would require a photo ID is if I suspected a fraudulent credit card was being used.

I'd tell them to fuck off. Probably more likely that they're trying to fuck you over, then they're worried about you trying to fuck them over. :2 cents:

yup pocketkangaroo, tell them to fuck off.. BoyAlley is right.. its the cost of doing biz.. they must take the risk.. as a buyer you should never have to take the risk of them using your info .. for ID theft or other things.

Yes I did. I'm US based, and the card and my information is under a company that is legit and everything. They could look up the LLC for all I care.

Funny thing is that they are one of the biggest adult ones around and very prominent here.

We don't. Not even for dedicated servers. What do you need for your $10 account? We have a $10 monthly plan, hit me up and I'll give you the first month free if you're opposed to giving somebody else your ID.

I'm just looking for something to throw a few blogs up on and maybe some small sites. No galleries or anything like that so bandwidth is really not an issue. Unlimited mysql databases and phpmyadmin would be nice if it's part of the account. If all goes well, could shift more business that way. Currently using 7 different hosts and this is the 1st that has ever asked for ID.
