Michael Owen - Career Over

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/foot...nd/5100516.stm

Check the radio 5 feed. Dam the guy is fucked. He was a wicked player. Seems like it is all over. He maybe a multi-millionaire but I bet he still wants to play.

Relish XXX 06-20-2006 07:58 PM

He is only 26. I feel so sorry for him. I remember when he was banging in hat tricks against Germany.

Imagine how he must feel now.

The Demon 06-20-2006 08:05 PM

I don't think his career is over, just his World Cup

They reckon his knee has totally gone. Listen to the feed. That is the doctor who operated on him an hour after the match.

Relish XXX 06-20-2006 08:15 PM

He hasnt played properly since December, listen to the feed.

pr0phet 06-20-2006 08:21 PM

I hate to agree with Relish XXX but hes probably right. Anyone whos ever had a serious knee injury knows that athletes never come back quite right after several surgeries.

riddler 06-20-2006 08:23 PM

awww damn he might have to get a real job once all the money he made dries up in 10 years.. schucks!

reynold 06-20-2006 08:45 PM

That's really fucked up... I hope he could still play, even if it's not for this season..

Thanks, Owen has had a broken foot, leg and now knee.

He is over. I think it is the greatest shame ever when he is only 26.

Cash 06-21-2006 12:32 AM

I hope he is not over, Ronaldo seemed the same, and he recovered ...

Young 06-21-2006 12:34 AM

who???????

he-fox 06-21-2006 12:53 AM

Damn, that was nasty. I knew it's a ugly injury when I saw it on TV. His knee slipped away, like he hadn't any ligaments. This is the worst thing, besides death, that a player can suffer. A lot of bad luck this boy has. Anyway, I bet he'll stay in football, as a manager or something. I liked him, it was a good player.

pocketkangaroo 06-21-2006 01:00 AM

I doubt his career is over. It looks like he tore a ligament in his knee. That is usually a 9 month injury for most athletes nowadays. Hell, Daunte Culpepper tore every ligament in his knee last year and will be starting opening day for the Dolphins. This won't end his career.

FLAiR 06-21-2006 01:03 AM

:( england is fucked without him.. they mite get draws without him but not WIN. :Oh crap

Farang 06-21-2006 01:06 AM

holy crap, this shit is not good for him and for English team :Oh crap

BusterBunny 06-21-2006 01:07 AM

go 49ers:thumbsup

gooddomains 06-21-2006 01:07 AM

that's certainly it, end of his sports career

soulbleed 06-21-2006 01:33 AM

uh i doubt his whole career is over

madawgz 06-21-2006 01:37 AM

he could always pickup something to do online...

MattOT 06-21-2006 01:39 AM

Na he world cup is over but players can come back from bad knee ligaments injuries!!

pocketkangaroo 06-21-2006 01:39 AM

It's not the end of his career. It's a torn knee ligament. 9 months. Happens all the time in the NFL over here.

Sexsitesurfer 06-21-2006 01:40 AM

I hope he can come back, but with his age and the amount of surgery and time out he has already had he is never going to be as sharp and quick again.

It is a shame, it was 8 years ago he made his name against Argentina in the WC.

mOrrI 06-21-2006 01:45 AM

Hum..
Man those type of injuries suck....
Feel sorry for him :(

And it happens here too but Owen has had a bad time with injury as of late so things are piling on top of each other and 9 months is a long time in a football carear. Heck, look at Rooney people only give him two months to get back to playing.

Anyway, I hope it just is the World Cup but if not he has a broadcasting career lined up no doubt. If Gareth Southgate got one so can he.

polish_aristocrat 06-21-2006 02:28 AM

he has been replaced already by Rooney

and then there will be Theo Walcott ( havent seen him yet though )
