Question for HI DEF Video Peeps...

Has anyone used the Sony HDR FX1? How is it compared to the lesser and smaller models like the HDC cams? What vid cams would you recommend for Hi Def?

The smaller Sony HDV cams don't look anywhere near as good as the FX1 when viewing on a big TV. On your computer it looks about the same.

I'm going to use it all on the web... I wish I could see comparison samples. Mostly I worry about the effectiveness in less than optimal light conditions.

FX1 is much much better then the small cams .. When you buy it pay attention on Picture Profile.. The FX1 is much more powerful and can shot at minimal lights..

Sony FX1 is real shit - I have just sold mine few days ago.
It has really seriouse problem with autofocusing and it can't be fixed - its manufacturing failure. Its autofocuse counts the everage level of focusing for subjects infront but also on the background - means you never get 100% sharp subject that you focuse on.
I am happy to switch to another producers - FX1 was really waste of money.

Yes, the autofocus is different from that of the VX2100. The camera needs more light and also the widescreen format requires more of the shooters attention so the subject fills up the frame.

One way to keep more in focus is to slap on a 6x or a 5x wide angle lens.
