The coalition of the leaving. US military draft on the way?
 

Now Japan is pulling their troops out of Iraq. Not that they had many there, but it's only a matter of time before the UK does. Blair is on the way out. I'm starting to worry that the draft is inevitable. Not to mention if we start attacking Iran, that shit's going to blow up even if we don't send in ground troops. How else are we going to keep fighting this war with no allies and a President who refuses to consider withdrawal even an option?

Has anyone read the new draft laws? I wonder what the age limit would be. Hopefully (for me) it's around 28-29.

In a way it would be funny to see a bunch of overweight GFY's like myself get drafted, but I'm sure as hell not going over there. I'm going to start working on my excuse now so I'm ahead of the game. Do they still not allow gays? I'd kiss a guy in front of a draft board to save my ass from this bullshit war.

If nobody backs us and we do goto war, the draft will be activated. How else do we get troops? We have already had a significant loss of troop count since the beginning the war in Iraq.

Why do you think it's so hard to believe? What do you think will happen if the war gets a lot worse, for example Iran getting involved, and our rules refuse to leave?

I know people tend to laugh off the suggestion of anything that is not yet being discussed in the media, but you're telling me you haven't thought about this? Honest question, what do you think will happen? Or do you just not think about things until they happen?

A draft this term would mean the end of the Rebublican Party, imho...

Exactly my fear. I mean we already have the stop loss activated, the only step from there is a full draft. I don't understand where people think we're going to get more troops if we need them. We're already moving troops from Afghanistan to Iraq and letting Canada and NATO take over there, what happens if Canada pulls out of Afghanistan when we attack Iran? I don't see how people laugh off the thought of a draft like it's not possible, or even probable. People not thinking ahead is what got us into this mess in the first place.
