Anyone ever been screwed over by someone you thought was a good friend?

I know someone that now I realize used me for whatever suited their needs, led me to believe we were friends over a couple years, and then took off when I wasn't needed anymore.

Yep, but the sad thing is that I didn't heed the warnings that were given me. I got a LOT of "I told you so!" when the screw over happened. :winkwink: Sometimes I think I'm a better judge of people than I really am.

This person used my name to further their own. They have also sidled up with another well know webmaster to further their name even more. Sadly, that webmaster will only know the truth when it's too late, or maybe when they're out several thousand dollars in one way or another.

Yepyep, same reason I don't hang out with anyone from high school anymore. My whole circle of friends turned into addicts and fuckups or dead.

Made it hard to make new ones too with such low expectations. It's me against the world now, gets lonely but it's better than constantly having that knife in my back. :2 cents:

no such thing as being screwed over.. if you get revenge you are even. don't let them get away with it, or they will keep doing it and it will be partially your fault

Oh yeah...I get taken advantage of all the time....Lately, I've been trying not to be soooo nice. Usually I really bend over backwards for people when given the oppertunity, but I'm not able to do that anymore because most people now-a-days are just looking for the better deal. It sucks.

Yep, and not all that long ago - damn I wish I had that camera the SOB never returned.

I did a lot of stuff with this person too. Help them move into their new place and helped re-decorate. I even went out of my way to help repair his failing relationship by bridging the gap between them (for all the help it did anyway).
This person even tried to scam me out of $20,000 in some kind of "investment" opportunity with some of his other con friends.

Its just human nature (if you believe in what hobbes said)

Thats why I screw these people first and don't let them get close :-)

Oh boy, Chris, you opened a can of worms. Yes of course we all have helped out people that we thought were our friends and especially particular ones that we go out of our way to do extra things for. I have many stab wounds in my back and I bet we can go out drinking for a week and not finish going over them all. :( Some stab wounds are very deep but I have found that the people that inflicted them have done so and gone on their merry way without a second thought and my dwelling on this is actually causing me more harm than it is to them. I guess this is what it means to let things go eh?

It happens all the time. I have helped many people in this biz over the past 10 years some who to this day still appreciate it and I do biz with but most just dont care and ignore you. Its funny casue they always hit you up when there down and out..

I only help those who help me in some way now period or we put it on black and white

yeah I got screwed over by a guy I thought was a friend. There are always going to be crooked motherfuckers in this world. The best thing is to learn a lesson from it and move on. dwelling on it isn't going to help.

i am always afraid of that, so very coutiously choose friends

may be sometimes you deserve other peoples' treatment to you.

1 dont sleep with your friends girlfriend
2 dont go into business with a friend who is money hungry
3 dont try to screw anyone that is related to your friend
4 dont tell your conservative friend what you do for a living lol
5 dont try to live with your friend and split the bills.

hey chris! long time no chat! yes, last week (as a matter of fact) i was screwed over rather well by a (former) friend of 30+ years regarding a mainstream startup company. apparently the only thing i was "worth" was to help him "pad" his budget for a major silicon valley software developer who shall remain nameless. what's sad is i gave the kid his very first job and helped him throught his career. xfiles: "trust no one."

i rarely post here, but i feel your pain.

Guys the most important thing to remember about this lesson is this..
