Rant - Vent - Warning!! Scam Alart!!

This is new to me, so if this has been going on for a long time don't feel the need to say " insert time line pic".

This is the first i have heard about this or been victim of it.

I just pay my bills i rarly look at the itemized fees. Well i happen to look recently and see some charge for what looks like voice mail on my phone line. The thing is I dont have voice mail. So i call phone company and ask why they charging me for this. They say it isn't them, that it is another company. How the hell is another company charging me through my phone company and the charges are going on my phone bill? I did not know that i could get charges on my phone bill for shit unless i called a number that charged a fee. A dailer, 900#, etc... Not enter in my fucking number for payment. So my phone company/bill is now a fucking credit card, people can bill me for any shit on it???

So anyway, they tell me to call the company (Intelicom Messaging), they can't do anythign about it. I call t he company, can't understand the indian cunt, and ask her why the hell did they start charging me for this shit and what was it. She said I signed up to some contest online. WTF?? no way. I asked what proof they had, and they said my phone number and name. HELLO motherfuckers, open a phone book. How hard is it for their sales reps to fake this shit and sign me up for it, or someone to play a joke. So she said she would refund me, and asked me what was the date of the charge. So i give her the date and she says a refund will be made. I said i want all refunds for all previous charges.... ok this is the slimmy part.... she said she couldnt do it unless i gave her all the exact dates, LOL.... this is where i went ballistic and i told her to look at her fucking computer pull up the ALL the dates and credit my shit back or i was calling the AG and FTC on their ass right now. 1 minute later I was informed all charges since April of 2005 will be credit back to my next bill and " please kind sir please do not take futher legal action".

Fuck you, scammin assholes, when i get my money i am still going to report you. FTC should not allow people to charge your phone line that easy. Anyone could do this to anyone, and how many idiots like me dont read their statements.....

Dagwolf 06-19-2006 03:33 PM

That's just naaaaaasty.... Report 'em!

V_RocKs 06-19-2006 03:35 PM

It is actually quite common.

JD 06-19-2006 03:38 PM

yep same kind of thing happened to my Dad a few months ago. Mysteriously there was charges for 29.95 on his phone bill for some VoIP "service" that he "signed up for" total bullshit and happens ALL THE TIME

they want to provide a service but they can only charge your phone bill for it :warning :warning :warning

wtf is that shit. Why can't they take a credit card for payment like everyone else. oh wait they would have to steal credit cards to make money then where as all they have to do now is open a phone book.

I would be fine with this if I MADE a phone call and was charged for something but MY phone bill/company has nothing to do with this bullshit service/company. And i bet anything my phone company makes a % for the transaction... basically a 3rd party processors, fucking bastards.

You didnt realize this charge for over a year? You are like the surfer who signs up, lets it bill for a year and a half and then charges back the whole damn thing.

A fool and his money soon part. You should have been made to part with yours.

chase 06-19-2006 06:20 PM

I had some book club shit charge my card a few months ago, so i call the company and they said I signed up for a free trial with something else I purchased. I said, BS, the only thing I use that particular card for is clothes, and I seriously doubted Torrid or Lane Bryant would partner with them, so i asked what date I supposed signed up for this trial, and he told me, so i looked up my statement online immediately, and lo and behold, i made no purchases for ten days before, and twenty days after. I relayed the info and he refunded my money and apologized for his "mistake"

I never did find out how the hell they got my billing info.

Yeah, i know, but I never even bought anything when they say I signed up, so how did they get my info? There was no fine print to read, because there was no purchase!

That bullshit's been going on since the late 90's. I know because I worked in a call center for Ameritech (now SBC, AT&T or whatever accronym they go by now a days).

Those companies get their charge on your bill when you fill out those contests. Think of the mall, super market, and other places where you enter into a 'drawing'. Well in the fine print it says you authorize it.

Anyways, long story short, they are always some bullshit company, normally out of the Carrabean like Vanatu or someplace like that. Where U.S. laws do not apply.

So.. long story short there is two things you can do. 1, call your phone comany and put a block on ANY miscellanious billing. Yes, they do have this block. It, like many other things in telco, they do not OFFER. You have to ask for it.

That block means NO company can add misc charges to your bill. They have to bill you directly.

Second, you refuse to pay all charges. They issues an.. I think it was called AM900, 500, 90, something like that. Anyways, it removes ALL CHARGES from your bill (sometimes this has to be referred to an internal group the rep should send it to) and send it back to the third party company.

This illiminates the charges from your telco, and takes them out of the equation. Now it's only you and whomever claims you owe them money fighting over it. No longer your telco, you, and the third party.

From there you can fight it how ever you want. Some roll over. Some don't and fuck up your credit. It all depends. Only thing I can guarentee is a lot of phone time.

Mainstream is a lot more shady than porn these days

no I don't scrutinize all my bills looking for every little fee on it. If the total looks about right i pay it. Most of my bills i let them take it out of my account each month i am usually too busy to even deal with writing checks. This is one of the bills i have to pay the damn thing each month.

hey its all relative. Lets say you lose some change, couple :2 cents: :2 cents: would i be justified for calling you a fool for not keeping track of your money and parting with it??? The $15 a month to me is spare change. I just so happened to see it when i wrote the bill. And I didn't sign up to shit, so no i am not like the surfer who signs up to something then charges back year later. I didn't signup to anything.

It just pissed me off that people can put shit on my phone bill like that, and the principle of the mater, fucking scammers knew they were wrong why the caved so quick... and i am still going to report them.

They rolled over quick and will be refunding everything. I don't signup to contest, and i certainly don't give out my phone number to anyone, this was home number and ill usually give out cell. Someone was totally up to no good with this deal.

My favorite is the checks they send out people in the mail, $4.95 check fine print on the back when you cash it you enroll in some 79.95 year membership. if you dont read fine print on back you never know... I know we (adult) do rebilling and all that shit, but sending checks to people houses, main stream is fucking shady with shit like that 10x more then porn.

fallenmuffin 06-19-2006 09:17 PM

pornguy 06-19-2006 09:17 PM

I found a 99.99 charge on my debit card for some software company that I have never heard of. I tried to call them. they are in england, and the number is invalid. So I disputed the charge. Fuck wads.

I check my bills, not with a magnifying glass but i take a look at the total and i know the range it should be, $15 charge didnt set off any flags to me. If my bill is usualy $100 and i see a total for $200 or even $150 i know something is wrong, if i see it one month $95 the next $110 no, i m not going to tear it apart and look at every little state tax, franchise tax, etc... too busy making money not trying to count pennies.

Tam 06-19-2006 10:56 PM

I am having the EXACT same fucking problem with the exact same damn company and it is about to drive me up the damn wall. I am going to try your trick and threaten to report their asses...... this is bullshit.

Cingular is also calling me 2-3 times a day saying I owe them $302 for service I had canceled in September of LAST fucking year. Now, tell me this, how can they even think of justify charging me from then to December and say I DID have their service when Verizon CALLED them and had my numbers transferred to their service themselves and I also called them to cancel it? I had to print off bills from back in September for my Bellsouth bill and my Verizon bill to get them off my ass long enough to investigate this. BUT, and they CALLED my damn cell phone, wouldn't they know that THEY don't have my number in their system?

SO, you know what I did? I called their support line and told them I needed help with my cell phone service, gave them my number and everything and they asked me was I sure I had the correct number because they didn't have my number in their system........ BUSTED!!! They finally took it off my Bellsouth bill, and now I have to fax or mail them paperwork to PROVE I don't owe them. Bastards.

My old cell phone company used to charge me taxes that didn't exist yet. I'd explain it to ya, but I didn't understand the stupid cunt trying to explain it to me. Basically it was a tax that didn't exist, but they were charging it to me, incase it ever did. :thumbsup

call the number on your bill, tell them you have no clue what it is for and you didn't sign up for it. Anyone could have signed you up, including them! you want to be refunded for everycharge and if they dont do this you and a couple other people you know in the same situation will call the Attorney Generals office. I asked where they opperated out of and she said Florida. They are up to no good if you dont get anywhere with them let me know.

Peaches 06-19-2006 11:24 PM

I'm dealing with that and Sprint right now. I cancelled my service (long distance on my local land line) in June. They decided to turn it back on again in December and charge me fees even though I wasn't using it. They sent me to a collection agency and I pointed out that THEIR OWN RECORDS showed I'd canceled and they turned me back on again against my request. Also reported to the FCC. That usually gets their attention ;)

Cell phone companies and regular phone companies are the worse. I dont get this bullshit from my electric bill, gas, water etc... why do we get so much bullshit from phone companies?

i hate cell phone companies in particular with a passion. One time i increased my usage plan with them and come to find out they renewed my 2 year contract because i switched to a new plan. nevermind that this was never disclosed to me, and on top of that i was putting more money in their pocket, why penalize me. I could understand maybe if i decreased my service but when i am 18 months into a contract and i want to bump up to next level, don't commit me for 2 more years and keep it quiet.

And the bullshit where buy this phone for $75 with etra 2 year commitment.... fuck you i pay full price for my phones they can ram the extra savings up their ass, i dont want my damn contract extended for 2 years so i can save $100 on a phone.

Which brings me to this last point... why the hell do they have contracts in the first place. Why can't i be month to month like my regular phone... seems like price fixing tactics to me, the reason they do it is because they all agreed to. As long as no one makes the move to go month to month we have no alternative.
