I predict that with every "cool" or "beneficial" technology nano brings, it'll also bring a plethora of "devastating" stuff to our lives.

Dude, you should read Dr. Ben Bova's articles on longevity. Just the new breakthroughs in stem cell therapy alone will revolutionize our lives.

There's no telling how long people will be able to live with the rapid advances in technologies. We may well hear within weeks or even months of a breakthrough so astounding our lives will never be the same ( hint! hint! ).

The danger with nanites is if put to evil use we could do some serious, serious fucking up like on a cosmic scale.

About 10 years ago I wrote and drew two comic books based on a character named 'Bloodshot' who was an assassin who was the product of nanite technology. It was for a company then called Valiant/Acclaim. I had fun doing those books. #46 and #49. Very interesting stuff.
