Does anyone do anything with Yahoo Groups anymore?
I have a ton of groups that I have basically just pushed aside a long while ago, does anyone have anything that they do with them anymore?
If anyone has any ideas I would love to hear them, or even if someone wants to take mine off my hands I would trade them for something, no clue what I would trade them for, but if you want them, make me an offer |
any of them of any niche?

We used to own ExtremeBondageFantasies Yahoo group which at its peak had 14,500 members and over a million page views.
But Yahoo deleted it without warning or explanation (like a lot of other groups). We also owned MaleTorture Yahoo group with over 5,000 members - same fate. So we gave up on Yahoo. They're fucking useless. |
http://pissyourself.com/smilies/qqb021.gif I used to work Yahoo groups but it was a long time ago.

most yahoo group members want shit for free.
or they join just to spam their group. |
That brings me back. I still own adultegroups.com. It was pretty big back in the day when Yahoo stopped giving adult egroups in the search results.

We worked hard at buildin' up the two I mentioned - we just figured the groups were a good (and easy) way of being interactive with fans of our other paysites. I constantly posted a lot of our own originals on a daily basis for a few years, which attracted a lot of interest. In retrospect, I don't really regret Yahoo axing them, though. They WERE time consuming to maintain...and we never really proved to ourselves the traffic was any good other than leechers. |

that was the big directory wasn't it? I had started yahooxgroups.com to compete with you...LOL...never worked though, I didn't have the time or energy to put into it, i ended up selling the domain |

I had a lot of my group posting stuff automated. I am a huge fan of automation. :) I love having scripts running sites, doing promo, getting sales. I can just sit back and make silly pictures in Photoshop :1orglaugh |

ICQ has groups... |
I still have a few floating around..must be 5 years old by now
|
I got my start from yahoo back when they were "clubs"..I started it in 2000 and it grew to be the second largest active black club in all of yahoo...When I opened my site in 2001, I emailed my group and I got a signup within an hour...Now my group has almost 20,000 members..it's good for sending out galleries cause you get a little boost of traffic..kind of like submitting to a medium large tgp...and I keep in touch with my fans by emailing when I update...

I've started some yahoo groups some time ago but i was very disapointed. It's TGP traffic....99% freeloaders. :2 cents:
|
i have a yahoo groups toplist, you guys should submit your groups there:
http://www.groupsportal.com |
No.
:2 cents: |
no not here
|
Mostly freeloaders, but i had good response on my group till yahoo x it. I would say in a niche group your signup rate would be 1:1000 or so. And in my case group was over 34K members so it worth to post a message once a week. It is like TGP, you gotta put the time into it before hand.
I am glad yahoo killed it, so i have more free time now. |
The problem with the member numbers are some groups have 50-80% bouncing members. And some nice maintained ones are almost 0%.
Groups would be a value depending on their name if someone wants to build onto it. I would suggest put up the group names, so you attract guys that way. :2 cents: Quote:
