Swimming Pool Gurus I Need Your Help!!!
 

So my swimming pool cleaning service could'nt come this week to service my pool and they won't be able to come until next wednesday. I have never cleaned my pool before and I'm really in the dark. :(

It's an awesome weekend and the weather is perfect and really hot! Anyways my pool looks really murky in the deep end and not so bad in the shallow end. I cleaned the "tub ring" off the sides of the pool just now and skimmed out most of the crap. However what should I do to get the clear blue look back of the pool and get rid of the grey?

I did some tests yesterday and the PH and Acidity were really high so I put in some chemicals to bring it down. Also the bromine level was super low so I added in 3 big tablets of bromine. I also put in some "shock" but I doubt it was enough (4 small scoops of shock)

Anyways if anyone could help me with this I would be forever in your debt and raise a beer in your honor this afternoon. :thumbsup

Make sure your PH is between 7.4 to 7.8. if it's too high or to low if will cause the pool to be cloudy.

Make sure your filter is clean and the water is ciculating so the filter can filter out the particals thats making the pool cloudy.

You can also try a clarifier that will bring the particals together and help the filter clear the pool faster. pool stores sell a clarifier that only requires 1 ounce for every 5000 gallons of pool water and it works great.

clean the filter. Sand filter is really straight forward. Then use a clarifier. You will be swimming in clear blue in 3 hours.

what kind of filter do you have? cartridge or DE

Sounds like your chlorine level are too low assuming you have a non salt water pool. If you're ph is still too high, add some acid to bring it down.

If your murky in teh deep end thats where i would concentrate my shock. did you run the polaris? There is also stuff you can buy that is specifically just to clear up the water. I forget what its called but its a blue solution.
Back wash about 2 inches out and add some DE to the skimmers if you have a DE filter, add some water etc. Doing that alone made my pool look like i was in bermuda.

Just take a water sample to the pool supply store. They'll want to know some info like your pool size and filter. Then they can tell you exactly what chemicals you need and how much of each to use.

Are you opening the pool for the first time this season? If so, don't forget to add some algecide.

If you've already backwashed the filter, put in some clarifier and then do a chlorine shock, you will see clear water very quickly. The other chemicals may still need to be balanced, but they shouldn't affect the water clarity.

This is the best advice right here. We have our water tested regularly at the pool store. They do it for free (of course, they know you're going to buy their chemicals) and you can get just the right mix. Guessing about what chemicals you need may make things worse.

Be sure to test it a week later after you've added their recommended chemicals.

Your chlorine leve may be too high. It will make the water cloudy.

Definately.....check the filters and chlorine level, they'll make it cloudy fast!

get a sample of your pool water, like a cupfull - go to the nearest pool center where they sell chlorine pool supplies ect - theyll usually test your sample for free or a nominal charge and tell you exactly what you need to do.
