1024x768 <body> width?
My international (US included) people still have like 45% 800x600 as their resolution, but I have a few finnish projects and over 85% have 1024x768 or higher resolution. I hate percentage width's in designs, and usually rely on fixed width. I've designed sites for 7 years as being 760-770 wide... time to move on... but to what? lol
...so anyone with insight? How wide can a table be inside "body margin:0" so it won't make horizontal scrollbar on any browser on 1024x768? :) Thanks. |
Good question - I have also been wondering lately. For 800 I make all sites 769 wide, but for 1024 I use ~ 970 just to be on the safe side.

But seriously, I'm not entirely sure. I would think that you could still get away with 760x770 for a design, even for those surfing at 1024x768. Just means having some background margins on the sides. Otherwise, stick with the 30x40 reduction rate... just double it... 60x80. |

Hyvää Päivää = good day/hello :) Anyhow, I red on some wordpress site that people were using div's as wide as 1000.. but I also would like to be safe on all browsers |

Yeah, but like stuart says, I think 770 looks pretty good on 1024 aswell. I mostly use the latter for CMS, backends etc where the screen real estate is more important. |
I always do 770 looks good all the way around
