Just wondering how many of you are ready for broadband-oriented content 1024x or even larger? (I'm currently shooting 1600x but reduce to 880x for sale.)

Make video content. Photo content is dead. Video is the future.

UNseen, I think most webmasters are ready for as large a picture as we can get our hands on.

You say you drop yours down to 880 for sale? Why? Phoenix gives me 3 sizes as some content providers should. Its not so much "us" that needs to be ready for it, its the surfer.

On one hand you have designers worried about cramming 200k of info on a 110k front door, and you have the 56 k guy cruising in with java turned off, we all know webmasters like big toys, so yeah at 1600 I can hang with you on 3 of my machines... having 6 pcs I have different res and scren sizes on different ones, but nevertheless I design for 800. Just as you say you shoot at 1600 yet drop it down to 880 for sale, same here, you should give webmasters as large a file to have for clarity and offer multiple sizes for download, it really means alot to us who want that extra clarity when designing something B I G.

Anyway, I just woke up so Im ramblin, and I havent had my coffee... talk more later i suppose...

Too bad you only have softcore video, I need hardcore video content. There isn't enough people selling hardcore video content sets.

Video is where it's at, I'm wondering how long it will be until we start seeing video content at HDTV quality ;)

Here is my thoughts on the web.

Pics will ALWAYS be there.

But more and more people will get faster connectivity.

And as they do they will demand more and more video from websites.

But until 80%+ of the demographics have broadband 1Mbps+ connections video can not become dominant!

Full screen video will also become a standard option.

My guess is it will be near broadcast quality full screen video within 1 year!

Actually, I include 880x and 590x in my ZIP files. I'm trying to decide to go bigger. In the interest of keeping ZIP file sizes as small as possible, I could offer everything in 1600x (one size) and assume that anybody who doesn't know how to reduce the files to whatever size he wants (in 20 seconds or less) isn't much of a webmaster. Your thoughts?

Why not take care of your webmasters and do a little more for them? Yeah we can do batch, but why should we? You say it takes 20 seconds, well why not do it once and save thousands of webmasters 20 seconds over time.

You are at the top of the "time waste chain,"... end it... this helps the entire world get ahead, even if it is 20 seconds, but I wont go into my "Time Escaping Theory"

Youre worried about zip file size? Youre a content provider man, youre not supposed to be thinking about these things. The 35 you get off a set dont cover it? Id say make 3 sizes, have it set up to DL the different sizes serperate, and have a zip with them all.

But thats just me.

Your guess is wrong. Broadband penetration is still too low for broadcast quality video. It's a good optional option, but that's it. Current estimates show that even by 2006, broadband will only have 50% penetration in the United States.

Why the fuck would you make pictures 1600x1200???

Most people have 1024x768 and 800x600... so they would be forced to scroll

Shoot fullscreen videos and that will sell for sure.

since we're on the topic, its really annoying how hard it is to find hardcore video content other than in leased feeds. its hard to find quantity of hardcore pics too really, it seems like everyone just wants to sell pics of a girl gradually getting naked for the tgper's to use and thats 90% of what they offer.

broadband isn't moving along that quickly. a lot ppl with broadband have fairly shitty connections. broadcast quality video within a year is very hard to swallow.

IF you had read my entire post you would have realized I said it will become an OPTION.

I did not say dominant! I also said it will not dominate until 80% of internet users were on 1Mbps+ connections.

When you take out a SMALL portion of any response you can make anyone look wrong!
