My latest rant for sponsors with rss feeds ;)

Attention all sponsors offering rss blog feeds
A. If you do not offer an image, most will not use you.
B. If you do not offer an image of decent size, most will not use you.
C. If you do not offer decent descriptions in each post, most will not use you.

So what do us rss feed users look for? What makes us rss feed users pick one sponsor over another?

A. Large nice images.
B. Good descriptions using proper seo practices such as using Bolding for phrases you want to get searches on.
C. Regular updates, daily or at least twice weekly.

Now Im not bitching, and I really appreciate when sponsors go out of their way to offer more options to affiliates, and to make it easier for us to advertise for you, but there is nothing more annoying then signing up for a program due to them having rss feeds and to find a 80x80 image that is used for their feeds.

Most blog webmasters use 400x400 or even larger images in their own posts they make. So to put up a feed with a 80x80 image makes it purty obvious that, that post is not their own. So this post isnt so much a bitch, as it is an inside look into what I, and most other blog users Ive talked to, prefer when looking for new sponsors.

If you want more sign ups from webmasters using rss feeds try and implement those few tips. Thanks again for all you do for your affiliates.

stickyfingerzdotnet: good points

I have some really high level domains I am ready to build sites on but would like to promote as many micro-niches as possible by building automated sites. Other than hiring custom programming and data entry or taking a year off to do it myself I could seriously use some real rich text rss feeds to be the guts of the site(of course I could add other content as well to make it different) and worry about pushing traffic and marketing directly to that niche and subsequently to those sponsors. The web is changing we should adapt.

you hit the nail on the head man...but let me also add:

A. DO NOT make the images so big...I love nubiles blog, but god damn those images are huge....and if you have a programmer on staff, make him program a nice little script that lets us CHOOSE the size of the image

B. along with bolding, linking is nice too....link popular keywords to our affiliate link, people would be amazed at the amount of affiliate links I have in the search engines right now because I link keywords to affiliate links

C. nothing to add here, I agree 100%

I am still waiting for some program to come aloing and blow me out of the water with their rss feeds....the one that will blow me out of the water is the one that allows me to customize EVERY aspect of the feed I want

In terms of bloggable RSS feeds I have found adultplayersclub (good text and okay - but too small - images), kinky-katinka (good text, pics too small, not enough updates), nubiles (often not enough text, too many pics :)), webcamcash (good text but images small and usually poor quality) , tastyporn (okay text, too small pics) and webcams.com (good text, small over-optimized pics, not enough updates).

I did find two others, but they were badly formed and wrecked my own RSS output when I tried to use them (no names, just in case it was my fault). It's a pretty sad crop considering the impact that blogs and RSS feeds have been having on the mainstream 'Net for several years now.

sorry about the lack of updates from us recently.. (about 3 per week hopefully). We are training a new designer for our entire system.. Starting next week he will definitely do one per day with one gay one every few days.

We also released FULL rss feeds, so to speak where you can do feeds of online models and model profiles.. you have to write your own customized parser to make it work, though. See this thread for more details:

Jayeff, in regard to the pics, what size are you looking for? we have 8 different templates with different image sizes for the blog feeds. However, you have to realize that our webcam software only takes snapshots in 320x240 unfortunately, although we're working on changing that.

sexyads for your dating rss feeds, updated several times weekly

Great points and don't say you are sorry or even appear so.

After all, what is the point of a sponsor offering RSS feeds if they don't conform to what people even want?

Then that's the size :)

When larger become available, I would say that 400-450 width should work for most layouts. IMO Nubiles do the right size pics: they have pulled a couple of negative comments in this thread because they tend to put several in a single entry, so that with the text, they can take up lots and lots of vertical space. When they come up at the top of a page it creates the impression that's all your blog is: great for visitors who like it, the kiss of death for everyone else.

Quality too I know is a problem for webcams (and some movies) but it needs solving somehow, because how appealing is something which looks like an old zmaster pic that has been badly over-optimized? The nature of blogs is such that pics sit there surrounded by a lot of white space so - for better or worse, depending on the pic - individual pics have a lot more impact than, say, on a TGP.
