Canon versus Nikon
I've been using an Olympus Evolt 300 with a 50-200 ED f/2.8-3.5 Lens. I think I'm ready to jump to the next level with a better camera and more lenses variety
Should I get? Canon EOS-1Ds Mark II Canon EOS-1Ds or Nikon D2X http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/cano...-cam-front.jpg http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/Cano...sidebyside.jpg I'm all ears |
I prefer nikons, but thats me.
|
nikon is better
|
I prefer Nikons. I have a friend with a D2X and apparently the controls are much simpler to use on the Nikon body. But there are fans out there of either brand.
I took this yesterday with my Nikon D70 :) http://www.elli-nude.com/CameraPract...antuary-01.jpg |

Consider a Nikon D200. 95% of a D2X at less that half the price.

Its all about preference like Mac vs. PC
I prefer Canon. |
if im not mistaken the Canon is a full 35MM frame...if so the markII is the best choice unless like me you have thousands of dollars of nikon lenses.
the 35MM frame beats the 24MM everytime quality wise |

Ford versus Chevy...Nissan versus Toyota...you get the picture.

it depends if your locked in a lens system, then your choice is made. Other then that its a matter of like, great pics and been taken with both brands. If I could do it again I might of went with Nikon so I could borrow cool lens from Mike :)
|
Whatever you get - you'll be happy with it :thumbsup
|
another thing I might add....what environment will you be shooting in...if you shoot outdoors specially in humidity, the desert or around salt water dont consider anything but the Nikon
if your environment is sterile....your major consideration should be the the size of the CCD 35MM being best 24MM being not as good |
those are way outta my league

Mike, elaborate please on the humidity, desert, saltwater. thanks |
not true about shooting outside a number of national geographic photographers shoot with canons. example http://www.geocities.com/~kenghor/article/ian/ian.htm
|
I'll go with Canon 200D.. :thumbsup
|
people are responsible for great pictures, not the cameras, unless you have lenses already I don't think it will matter much which one you will get...
|
Stick with the Olympus :2 cents:

They now have lenses to cover the full gamut with the 1.4 magnification. If there had never been 35 mm and they came out with the non full frame digital, you wouldn't even care. I've have both and there is no difference in the quality of image. I prefer the canon lenses for speed of focus, but prefer nikon lenses for sharpness. If you're gonna spend 8k on the markII 1ds, you might as well man up and buy a medium format system for about 4k more. It shoots with a higher color range and the lenses are 10 times as good. |
just get some from a store and test them out yourself
try try try till you find one i had to swap 4 cams before I got my camera :) |
