Topic says it all ... please post your input
|

|

|
7-5% i think
|
is "who fucking cares" a valid percentage? :1orglaugh
|
1 17561329 85.08% Micro$oft Internet Explorer
2 1587243 7.69% Netscape Navigator |
Yeah, Netscape is dead.
|
I don't think it's that much any more 10%.
I know I just started using IE as my main browser about a month ago.... All ways had it and checked my pages with it... But I still use Netscape 4.7x for my email... Screw Outlook fucking Worm and Virus magnet. |
.00038%

there new Netscape RAT now.... ( They own Netscape ) and they say that they are going to make it there default browser.. after all they did pay something like 5 to 7 Billion $$$ for Netscape.... a few years ago.... So what do you think AOL is going to do.... They hate Microsoft the company... |

Just telling you what I have read in some of the Tech. papers.. Also why did they buy Netscape if not for Netscape... |
the other problem is for a long time netscape has been a piece of SHIT. no matter what OS you run MSIE on, it kicks ass, even on solaris. since microsoft is now required to compartmentalize their OS and allow pc makers to install other browsers netscape could possible make a comeback so i wouldn't discount it too quickly. AOL has plenty of room to offer creative incentives for using it.
|
They don't measure Netscape users in terms of percents anymore, they just report actual users.
I think it's 12 right now. |

lets face it who controls browsers controls the net. If Ie gets 100% then well life wont be good for aol. |
nutscape sucks
|
Netscape users 5-10%
Netscape mail is better then outlook though. So netscape isn't complete crap like some of you seem to think. |
Netscape is currently around 5%, but expect that number to rise again sharply, as I can confirm that AOL Betas do come with netscape, not IE.
|
What percentage uses Opera? It's the best browser out t here.

Netscape 6 is *somewhat* decent. But fucking 4.75 is the biggest piece of shit ever made. My dog can decode HTML better than that. You design something that looks perfect in 7 browsers then in 4.75 it looks like something you pull out of your ass.

Eudora is a much better email program than either Outlook or Netscape. And it's got sweet filtering. www.eudora.com
|
Eudora sucks. The Bat! rules!
I've never seen better e-mail client than The Bat! :thumbsup |

The email Bat, that is. Does the Bat have a NewsGroup reader? I use IE to browser but Nutscape 4.7x for my email and NewsGroups reader. |
how much will netscape use increase once aol users start using it?

3/4 of aol users have a hard time finding the off/on switch... Unless aol changes them over which they just might do. Aol users are not going to go through a bunch of shit to get another browser.. or should say most aol users don't even know what a browser is nor that they have one... they don't have a clue.. Not just aol users most people don't know. When you ask people who's your ISP and they tell you Yahoo.... yip they think because Yahoo is there home page... that's there Internet connection. |
I registered my Opera browser.
Fight the power. |
Yeah TheBat is really cool but it's not free hehe... also if you have massive amounts of email (at least the older version) -- it tended to get really slow... maybe they have improved it since the last I tried it... I like the realtime spellcheck it has especially... but honestly the Opera email progam is almost as good as TheBat...
And I don't see why people place so much importance on the Browser environment variable -- most non MSIE browsers have to cloak themselves as MSIE otherwise many websites don't even work... designing for just MSIE is just plain dumb -- you will be a slave to Microsoft... just design for the *real* HTML standard and you won't even have to worry about browser compatibility. You can guarantee that there will be a slew of PDA's and all sorts of miniature gadgets and many of these devices won't be using the gay Frontpage specific Microsoft tags -- they will be sticking to the basic HTML 3.0 standard... which is all you need to design any site. What pisses me off most is all these fucking sites that code Javascript into their links -- that's the dumbest fucking thing that webmasters started doing and I see it more and more -- Javascript is hardly standardized... you're just asking for problems. |
At one of my sites:
MS Internet Explorer 92.34% Netscape (Mozilla) 5.97% Browser Breakdown: MS Internet Explorer 5 46.85% MS Internet Explorer 6 43.09% Netscape (Mozilla) 4 3.94% MS Internet Explorer 4 2.79% Netscape (Mozilla) 5 2.00% Other Mozilla compatible Agents 0.97% WebTV 2 0.36% :ak47: |
.000000000000000000000000000001 % uses netscape...
IE RULES! |

I believe AOL auto-updates the software of it's members. It's part of the whole no-brainer aspect of an internet SERVICE as opposed to an ISP. AOL has approximately 35 million users. They aren't the whole of our market or even the majority but 35 million is 35 million. |
Maybe the Opera revolution has begun. Since Opera can mask itself as other browsers, there may be many more Opera users than you think. :Graucho
|
Here's something...I had to rent a machine for 20 cents/minute while I was in Tucson at a Kinkos. IE was not an option, it was Netscape or nothing. It cost me 40 cents to remember how to use it.
|
FUCK NETSCAPE.
As far as I'm concerned, redirect them all to a dialer. Muhahahah :evil-laug Brad |
