What the hell is wrong with Darryl Hannah?

She's gotten herself arrested protesting the construction of a warehouse. For the last decade the 14 acres have been used by people to grow flowers and produce. She and the other protestors are in this "urban garden" chaining themselves to concrete filled barrels and climbing up into the trees.

I've got no problem with conservation, but the problem here is THIS IS A PRIVATELY OWNED PIECE OF LAND and the guy who owns it want to build a warehouse.

WTF? Instead of thanking the man for letting them use his vacant land to grow their flowers, they want to stop him from using his land. These are the same ass hats that will scream about freedom to do what they want. Yeah, as long as they aren't paying for it...

I say we all go park ourselves in Darryl Hannahs back yard and start a "porn garden". I'll bet she'll have the cops there faster than you can say "no trespassing". Though I heard she lives in a teepee

Dagwolf 06-14-2006 11:49 AM

I'd like to park myself in Darryl Hannah's backyard, all right. :winkwink:

nico-t 06-14-2006 11:54 AM

You got that right, fine wine gets better with age.

Tom_PM 06-14-2006 11:58 AM

Maybe they should have offered the owner the same amount of income he can reasonably expect for the next 10 yrs with the warehouse or something. I mean, be fair about it.

Sarah_Jayne 06-14-2006 12:01 PM

well, the story made the BBC news tonight so she did well to get the cause attention even if you don't agree with the cause.

See, that's how they suck you in.....You think she has "a cause".

What's the cause? There's no land left for anyone to grow flowers in the USA? Get on a plane in LA and fly to NY. 99% of everything in between in bare fucking ground. Go BUY a piece of land and plant whatever you want on it. This land belongs to a guy who wants to build on it. What is he supposed to do, give it to them for nothing? Would you give me your house so I could grow tomatoes in your bathroom? No. So why do they have "a cause". If they trying to protect some piece of nature, some wildlife sanctuary, or some other natural land or structure I'd say protest away. But this is a piece of land in the middle of a city where people have been planting gardens, because this guy allowed it to happen.

SilentKnight 06-14-2006 12:55 PM

She must have a new movie comin' out soon.

Never fails - when a celeb does a dumbass publicity stunt...its lead-up promotion to a new project.

Tom_PM 06-14-2006 12:58 PM

The lesson is to never let your land sit idle. Patrol it often! lol :)

In some cities/counties, they do set aside some PUBLIC land for gardens and such, which I think is great. But all the news showed about this yesterday was a celeb. in a cherry picker. I didnt hear anything about whether or not anyone petitioned the loval government to buy the land, or anything else. Just a celeb. in a cherry picker.

L-Pink 06-14-2006 01:00 PM

With todays liability laws and lawsuits they are lucky the owner hasn't had it fenced with no trespassing signs for the last decade! :2 cents:

Sarah_Jayne 06-14-2006 01:06 PM

yeah, I wasn't arguing for or against the issue but to her it is clearly a 'cause'

EZRhino 06-14-2006 01:07 PM

ohhhh..... unlucky celebs

Sarah_Jayne 06-14-2006 01:29 PM

you do have to love - forget this particular issue - that there is this general view point that once you become famous you somehow are stupid if you have a political opinion and dare voice it.

KRL 06-14-2006 01:39 PM

Famous people like to support famous causes so they stay famous.

wdsguy 06-14-2006 01:40 PM

Shes an idiot for supporting a buncha unthankful fuckers that basically got to farm free for 14-15 years and now thinks they deserve to own the land.

tASSy 06-14-2006 01:44 PM

i don't know what's wrong with her but i love the picture of her looking like she's hanging out in a treehouse on her cellphone while you read the article on both pages. :1orglaugh :1orglaugh :1orglaugh

american pervert 06-14-2006 01:53 PM

If she and the other movie stars cared so much about this plot of land, mabye they should of had a fundraiser for it instead of complaning when they owner wanted to sell it... how about them apples????

american pervert 06-14-2006 01:55 PM

btw, the owner sold the land for $16 million.. i would say fuck your garden for that much too

BigCashCrew 06-14-2006 03:07 PM

Amazing that after 10 years he has let these people grow their gardens for free on his land they are now all of the sudden pissed off and picketing his home. What is wrong with people? You give someone an inch and they want to take a mile. It's private property. It was cool of him to let them do this for so long. Free loaders.

yeah! and after you take this land back, talk to the Indians...lets just give everyone their land back

LOL

directfiesta 06-14-2006 03:12 PM

Amazing .. The land belongs to a guy, period. He can do whatever is legal with it...

If the city wants to keep the gardens as a community project, they have to negotiate to buy the land at a reasonable rate, or give the landlord an equivalent lot ...

Darryl Hannah is a " has been " and barely a name on the rolling credits of a "B" movie...

american pervert 06-14-2006 03:35 PM

in the words of dave chapelle doing rick james-

fuck yo garden nigga, fuck yo garden!

And with some of the other screwed up laws, it wouldn't surprise me if they won their battle and he lost his land...

Manowar 06-14-2006 04:05 PM

Hollywood Horwitz 06-14-2006 05:09 PM

Bdiddy 06-14-2006 05:14 PM
