Good way of escaping from parents

Please share your stories of how you began to be independent? And how to make this process more pleasant and acceptable for both sides?

babedirect 06-13-2006 11:49 PM

I basically just kept pushing my limits until my parents didn't give a shit any more

FreakinWebmaster 06-14-2006 12:01 AM

dissipate 06-14-2006 12:07 AM

It's quite simple, move out.

GatorB 06-14-2006 12:12 AM

I killed them.

fallenmuffin 06-14-2006 12:15 AM

I plan on moving out sometime this year after I get my drivers license

I'm 21, yes I know, but you don't understand. I'm agoraphobic.

Darkland 06-14-2006 12:18 AM

Just do it... Most times the parents are ready for them to move out, more so depending on the age of the child. I am already telling mine that when he hits 16 he is going to get a job and start learning to take on some responsibilty so that when he is 18 or so he needs to go to college or start living on his own. I was out by 17 to college and just never moved back.

It seems all to common these days you still have people 21 to 28 still living at home, thats only hurting their chances of being a productive part of society as well as crippling their independance.

Dont sweat it, I dont think they will hold you against your will...

Just move out. There should be no drama with your parents when you are over 15 if you have a mature mindset.

SleazyDream 06-14-2006 01:01 AM

My best mate lives in the UK. Makes like $9k a month in the industry and still lives at home. Don't feel bad.

woj 06-14-2006 01:27 AM

It's a pretty complicated process, but I'll try to give you step by step instructions:

step 1: move out

Trust me I've been there. I was 22 before I got mine. Now I don't even think twice about getting in a car and driving somewhere.

Try acting insane in front of them.

* Try pulling a hair strand from each of them while shouting 'DNA'! :pimp

step 1: HAVE A JOB. if you're going to be independent, be independent. Be able to pay your rent and your car and your bills.

step 2: MOVE OUT. Often it's easier to move in with a friend first time out - have someone to share responsibility (and get fucked up nightly) with.

step 3: DON'T MOVE BACK. A lot of people move out before they are ready and can't pay their bills, can't take care of themselves in the big bad scary world, and end up beggin their parents for money - or eventually move back home.

You need to create a new social network that has NOTHING to do with high school, your parents, or the town you grew up in.

That being said, I left at 17 for college and never looked back. It can be done. Even in today's irresponsible "tweenager" world of the "stay at home until you're 30" crowd. :2 cents:

Vitasoy 06-14-2006 05:59 AM

If you have the money, just pack up your bags and move out

that's a what i want to say :)
if you can save your own Economy; just move out, i thing this is logic for anybody.

VicJay 06-14-2006 09:50 AM

This is all very simple - you can move out or escape from your parents only if you are independent yourself! In other words you can totally support yourself. If this is the case then you can rent a flat or a house and just move out!!! :)

BlackCrayon 06-14-2006 09:57 AM

as soon as i was making enough money to get my own place, i did.

Vasago Reno 06-14-2006 01:14 PM

Both parents were killed in an auto accident when I was 8 - so there was no weening off period.

I was in foster homes until I turned 16, then said fuck this - and split. Been on my own ever since.

WWC-Pajio 06-14-2006 01:16 PM

Same here. The difference is I'm the youngest so it was an easy move all my siblings moved out years ahead of me. :) :1orglaugh :)

MsWild 06-15-2006 04:42 AM

I had explained to them that I need to find a job to help them...
In my first job I got an apartment and I went home once a week but now I'm just visitng them twice a year because I am living far from them.

PussyTeenies 06-15-2006 04:44 AM

living on your own ! :)

Yngwie 06-15-2006 05:15 AM

easy, my dad (who I was living with at the time) moved in with his girlfriend and he just rented his house to me an my brother. A few years later I moved out due to my brother getting a girlfriend which I fucking hated because she would mooch (sp?) of of ME and I said fuck that shit. A year after I moved out, they broke up. 2 years later my dad offered to sell us his house which we took up that offer since we grew up in that house. This is in a span of 15 years or so.
