Fucking Dialers

Just so you know I repair computers for a living and more or less make lunch money with porn.

Anyway, for the second time this week I've had to repair a customers computer who accidentally installed one of those dialer programs so many of you seem to love.

This dialer totally changed DUN and made it impossible for them to access the internet once it was installed. Here is the cute part. When someone tries to access the internet it calls the dialer company instead. I would image at what 9.99 a minute or more? Took me a few minutes to figure out exactly what it was doing :feels-hot because it appears to be dialing the isp. I'm sure it charges them a minimum for each attempt to comnnect to the internet. Fucking lame.

Now is this underhanded scum bag shit or what?

Like I've said I've had two customers this week with this same problem so I imagine I'll be seeing more of it.

Do you guys know a way to figure out who a dialer program belongs to? I would really like to find out and report the sons of bitches to the FTC.

Report the phone number that the modem was calling?
Think they can look it up with no problem.

Just because one rogue dialer is doing it, don't blame all dialers.

What this dialer is doing is very wrong. The major dialer networks would never pull stunts like that.

Send the dialer to [email protected] and I'll see to it that their 900 numbers are disconnected.
