From a rating of 0 (worst) to 10 (best) what rating do you give the US soccer team...

I would recommend them sticking with their own sports LOL

I think that US had done steps for soccer but I think that is not time now to compare with european, latin and few african teams.

when San Marino is 1, Brazil 10, and Germany 8, the US would be about 6 IMO

I think US is just on the average.. Not really an American dominated sport..

Putting a beating on Honduras and Jamaica does NOT make you 5th ranked in the world. Reality check for them, much needed. Ghana will beat them, Italy will beat them. Brazil will win it all anyways, so the US should just pack it up. My rating.. 3.. They play like they are in the MLS.

The US has made great strides in the last 20 years with soccer. The kids play it at school and viewing figures are on the rise.

The problem for the International side is simple, look at the clubs their players play for, and the leagues, then look at the sides the others play for.

To compete on the world stage you have to play against world class players on a weekly basis.

Unless you play against players like Henry, Rosicky, Lampard, etc. You are going to look very naive when they face you. Which is what the US did look.

Boys against men, the test of the US character is whether they have the balls to keep the soccer experience going or whether this WC put the whole thing back 20 years again.

The Czechs are a great team.. you need to be able to shut them down like Greece did in the Euros.. can't let them have much of the ball.
The US aren't a bad team.. they just lack skill.

Here I thought Fifa's ranking was accurate... lol. Ranked 5th in the world. They would never qualify had they been in the European Qualifying zone.
And what the hell is up with that? Europe lost a spot - now there are 4 teams from North America, 4 from South America, and 4 from Africa?!?!

4 teams from north america (1 playoff) - in effect that means USA and Mexico are guaranteed a spot everytime since they play against Bahamas & co..

The world cup isn't interesting before they hit the 1/8 finals. In the group stages we're just supposed to be amused by the shit teams and their possible 11men-behind-the-ball upset (Trinidad-Tobago). There has been very few open and good matches. Most matches have been between teams of very different strength.
