LA is flippen crazy

So I have lived here for 6 months now, I can say is who are all these people rotting away trying to be actors. they talk about all day and act it's best thing since cheese to be a face in the background of a failed movie.

I mean extras work does not make you anything other then broke.

What a weird passion...:(

I agree. You have to spend more time in the "real people" areas of LA to really enjoy it or else the plastic Hollywood types will drive you crazy. Glendale, Silverlake, up to neighboring areas like Pasadena and back down to the areas like Huntington Beach will keep you sane.

The beach areas like Santa Monica and my favorite, Marina Penninsula are cool too. The thing with them is the people are either actually "In" movies or are just bohemians that don't care. Either way you can get a real conversation.

LA is a real nice place when you stay away from the hollywood crap

Red Ezra 06-12-2006 03:08 AM

it's not hard to get into the movie business - if you want to work for free anyway

TDF 06-12-2006 03:43 AM

I love it here...fuck all of you who disagree

KRL 06-12-2006 03:58 AM

That's why they call it LA LA Land.

And if you don't have a SAG card, forget about it.

I love California, but can't stand 99.9% of the Californians I meet.

I have a friend who makes a pretty good living as a movie extra. It's funny because he is completely content being an extra and is not interested in starring in any films. He just goes from set to set.

He works really long days and apparently it kind of sucks because you just wait around all day but he claims there is some pretty good free food.

Exactly, and for what? just to get by.

Not even close to enough patience for that way of life. But to each their own.

To be a n actor was my childhood dream.. :(

OG LennyT 06-13-2006 07:12 PM

I'm pissed because many assholes from LA have moved here to the valley and shot our housing prices through the roof.
