corporate paysite ADMITTEDLY stealing my content!

I just got this email from the webmaster at ebonyfantasy.com.

"your website rocks i have just got in stolen the pics and posted them
on my site.keep on doing the hard work and i will benenfit from your
hard work"

WHAT KIND OF SHIT IS THIS? I guess that they are so powerful that they can just tell a small webmaster that they are stealing his shit and they basically told me to fuck off. What the fuck am I supposed to do about this?

And here is the email info unless they try to lie to a muthafucka:

i highly doubt maxcash is stealing content...

Shooter 05-27-2002 02:24 PM

This has to be a fake somehow. First off, I seriously doubt they would steal your content at all. Secondly, I'm sure they'd craft a more professional email to you.

All things being said, I'm sure it's not them.

Space Cowboy 05-27-2002 02:25 PM

Isn't that a Max Cash site? Are you sure this isn't a joke or something, it seems strange that a huge company like that would risk their reputation and risk being sued over a little content.

BVF 05-27-2002 02:28 PM

I was thinking that it could be a fake but that would have to mean that somebody hacked the maxcash folks themselves.

But how the fuck could somebody email me from their domain? that means that anybody can represent you or me and fuck our lives up royally spreading bullshit.

FlyingIguana 05-27-2002 02:30 PM

i would contact maxcash...

SleazyDream 05-27-2002 02:34 PM

go hire the caped crusader at Apic to protect your copywrited images and have him deal with it.

Steve gets innocent people worked up and nervous, imagine what he could do to a REAL image theif !

Fletch XXX 05-27-2002 02:38 PM

ouch

Paul Markham 05-27-2002 02:39 PM

Firstly find the website that has your content on it illegally.

Video the screen and a copy of the latest paper to show the date.

Contact a lawyer, he will take the case on contigancy if your content is copyrighted/registered to you.

If it's Maxcash, retire to the Bahamas.

99% this is a wind up they have too much to lose to steal content.

There is a simpler way. If you're a member of APIC stick Steve Easton on to them. He gets results.

http 05-27-2002 02:40 PM

this thread is stupid

mariuz 05-27-2002 02:42 PM

Exactly

hahmike 05-27-2002 02:49 PM

yeah, he has obviously just changed the 'from' address. doesn't mean that max cash has been hacked or anything.

probably some fucking lowlife that was cancelled by max cash.

the guy is sending from a dialup connection in the uk.

You obviously speak from experience. being an expert in that department. The rear end brigade?:winkwink:

Milton 05-27-2002 02:53 PM

it is easy they use anonymouse emailer..
write what you want and then send to where you wants..
96 many people did like that
[email protected] sent this blab lba
its possible
search on google for
anonymouse email programs

nickd 05-27-2002 02:54 PM

"But how the fuck could somebody email me from their domain? that means that anybody can represent you or me and fuck our lives up royally spreading bullshit."

Actually you can set any "from" email you want in your email client. Just write "[email protected]" and when you will send an email, the person who will receive it will see "[email protected] as your email address. I highly doubt that someone hacked their email address just to send this harmless message. It's more likely an underage webmaster foolling around with you. Furthermore, who is dumb enough to contact a webmaster just to let him know he is stealing pictures from him.

Nat 05-27-2002 03:23 PM

lol
who is dumb enough to belive that email was from max cash, not know about the possibility to change 'from' fields, and then come here bitching about it?

FATPad 05-27-2002 03:30 PM

hehe. Maxcash stealing content then emailing the webmaster to taunt them.

That's funny stuff. :1orglaugh

Can't you do that using telenet?

Kimmykim 05-27-2002 04:05 PM

Glad to see those Maxcash people working hard on a holiday...

Their emails look nothing like that on a serious note. I'd forward the one you got to [email protected] tho -- and copy it to [email protected] since I'm sure Aly would be interested in having a look at it.

beemk 05-27-2002 04:18 PM

Received: from modem-2591.panther.dialup.pol.co.uk

maxcash isnt located in the uk is it? fake

Phil21 05-27-2002 04:24 PM

modem-2591.panther.dialup.pol.co.uk is the guy that sent it, unless maxcash is using some UK dialup pool.. ;)

I can't tell you HOW, but let's stop being naive and stupid here: Haven't you ever noticed that the spam you get comes from nonexistent or impossible sources. I get spam supposedly FROM MYSELF! Well, if someone can do that, why couldn't they plug in just about anything?

Unless you can actually find your stuff on their site, unpaid for, I suggest you shut up and stop looking so foolish.

Snoops 05-27-2002 04:52 PM

Great way to spend Memorial Day, eh? :o)))

1) MaxCash does not steal content - nor are we stupid enough to send an email STATING that we stole content - that is utterly laughable.

2) Yes, it IS possible to spoof the return email address to make it look like it came from wherever and WHATEVER domain you wish - I've had it done to me using my domains many times (won't say by who) lol

3) We are better spellers/typists than whoever sent that email :o))

But, as Kimmy said - please forward the email to [email protected] - I think we'd be interested in knowing who sent it also. :o)

Any questions, please email me at [email protected]

thanx

Kimmykim 05-27-2002 06:10 PM

Damn Snoops, I almost had them convinced you did it ;)

gaby 05-27-2002 06:17 PM

That'd make a great April Fools prank.
