Selling Adult DVDs thru Vending Machines. Anyone Doing It?
 

There are vending machines out there that can do DVDs.

Has anyone ever played with the concept of vending adult DVDs through vending machines? I have toyed with the idea, but couldnt really think of where exactly one would place these... I thought maybe gay bars would be a good place... offer the bar owner a revshare... and how about any legal concerns?

The main attraction to them is no need for payment processing (all cash biz) and that means no chargebacks, shipping or customer service. Just straight sales.

Japan has been doing this for a while... but they sell a lot of weird shit too

Intersting, though I imagine you run into all sorts of legal and zoning issues. Like covering the fronts of the boxes the way the grocery store covers Cosmo! Liquor stores used to the be best place to buy porn mags. A porn DVD machine seems like the next logical step.

Better yet, in the ice machine areas of no-tell motels!

Japan and some other countries sell everything through vending machines, I was more thinking off the US, which these days sells primarily soda, snacks and prepaid phone cards through vending machines.

I was thinking that the legal issues could be a barrier, esp. if placed out in the open, which is why I thought placement in a bar would be best. Anyone in the bar is supposed to be of majority age, checked by the bouncer already... and as long as the machine wasnt visable from the outside, I am just wondering how this would apply... you wouldnt want to have to cover up the boxes, as those are what is gonna effect the sale.

I figured you'd attach a dispenser thing of heavy, paper or plastic bags that couldnt be seen into for the customer to put thier purchase into, so that they dont have to trapse out onto the street holding a package with markings on it of a pornographic sort...

We had a deal to sell them in vending machines in strip clubs, but the guys didn't come through. It could work in the right locations.

Japan has vending machines for everything, from used panties to entire convenient stores in one big vending machine. No doubt they have porn dvds in them too >_< In the states this would be one big idea except in the raunchiest of clubs I would imagine, it's not like you could just put them outside of walmart (although that would be pretty funny to watch kids stroll by and tell their parents 'I want that!')

Holy shit, I'd hate to think what that machine setup would cost...

Only other issues you may run into would be local zoning laws. I know its illegal in many areas to sell porn on Sundays, and after midnight. Not sure how that would apply with a vending machine, but I like the idea.
