Screaming 06-10-2006 08:51 AM

fuck yea.. softshells are fucking good shit man.

Peaches 06-10-2006 09:38 AM

Cool - The farmer's market in ATL gets them. I'll have to swing by and pick up a few. We pan broil them in butter and put them in homemade bread with spiced mayo.

And yes, you can get them in Costa Rica - this is new world - they have a thing called "FedEx" now :)

HushMoney 06-10-2006 09:42 AM

If tony's sushi doesn't import them from the bay.....then you're missing out. Plus i take it you've never had a softshell sandwhich. They put a whole medium softshell crab on some wonder bread....add hotsauce....dayum!!!! (redneck voice)

They get bay crabs in jersey though, i've had them.

xclusive 06-10-2006 01:18 PM

Sweet, I've got to get some soon.

Best in MD, IMHO.

Also good in NC too - just not as good as in MD.

SmokeyTheBear 06-10-2006 01:22 PM

When i have the time i catch my own crabs , nothing's better than catching them yourself and eating them within hours. :thumbsup

That is some of the most hillbilly shit I have heard of! LOL

Softshell crabs on Wonder Bread with hot sauce? That's almost blasphemous.

SgtStrider 06-10-2006 01:28 PM

Other than the wine, that sounds delicious. I think pasta with seafood is pretty much my favorite thing in the whole world to eat. Especially crab and anything cooked "scampi".

Amysworld 06-10-2006 01:32 PM

I am so upset. Used to live in Maryland (grew up there). Noone out here (in vegas now) knows about bushels of crabs. All my friends around here have to get them flown in.

I miss my Crabs with Old Bay :(

I love seafood but grew up with a sister who was/is deathly allergic to shellfish and then was with a husband who would hurl at the thought of anything from the sea. So, my seafood experiences are not as vast as they should be. I do miss good lobster from when I lived in the Boston area, though. Good clams too. Over here they are big on cod, etc but shelfish doesn't appear to be that popular.

Lets see, $60 for a dozen jumbo...+ $15 shipping x 1/2 doz per person

25 people.....

+ keg of beer ($90) & paper towels/wooden crackers ($35) = $2000 for a vip bay crab party :thumbsup

Nothing like a chicken neck and some string :) We used to go crabbing all the time at the Outer Banks. My ex husband an I would go to Ocean City at a condo his parents had and get the first steamed crabs done around 11-12 every day. Ate like total pigs every day with Old Bay and crab juice streaming down our arms.

My mother lived on the river in Jax and had crab traps set. Wouldn't get but maybe one a day, but it was still fun. Plus seining at the beach and shrimping off her dock when the shrimp were running. Fresh caught seafood is the BEST :)
