did anyone see on the news about that teenage girl that lied to her parents, got a plane ticket to some country i forget where...to meet a 30-40 year old guy she met on myspace.....

That sounds pretty scewed up, how can people be that stupid getting on a plane to meet a strange person in another country. All based on Myspace:disgust

So why is MySpace fucked?

Disregarding the fact that 1) the girl is probably just out of her fucking mind 2) family didn't give her enough attention so she has to get some from some random prick in Jordan (I think it was?) 3) her mom got her a passport because the girl lied about a trip with her friend's family to canada and the mom didn't even bother verifying it with the other family (what a dumbass mom, complete parental neglect)

Blaming myspace for this is like blaming a porn site because a 16 year old kid ignored the warnings and kept visiting it to see porn.

I think myspace is becoming a great tool to catch online predators. I find it funny that all these pricks out there use it the way they do and become completely speechless when Dateline NBC comes out with the cameras or undercover cops come out and say "You have the right to remain silent..."

dude there is nothing wrong with myspace, if it wasnt for myspace we would have other shit problems. like IMing, chat rooms and what ever else. besides myspace is a way for dumb fucking parents to have something to blame cause they cant control their kids. also right now, from analizing, about 10 to 15 years ago was when computers started booming and it was the high school kids from the mid 90s were the first to get classes on computer science in high school. those high school kids parents didnt know anything about them. and the parents of today still have no idea what email is or even how easy it is to control their kids internet activity.

I agree 100%. The problem is the lack of supervision and the ease of the internet. I remember when I was younger. If my parents had not met the people I was hanging out with or talking to, I wasnt hanging out or talking to them. Television and internet are the babysitter and parents just keep their head in the sand and say, "It wont happen to me".

By the way, the story goes. The 16 y.o. girl convinced her parents to get her a passport because she was SUPPOSEDLY going on a trip with her friends parents. When they got to the bus stop, the parents realized there was no trip. They took her home, she took the passport, and she left the next day for that country. I believe the border patrol brought her back to her parents. Oh, and the guy was 25.
