How much do you spend a week on groceries?

Just curious. I'm at like 150 just for me and the kid. The wife just mostly eats my cock so she doesnt count.

We don't buy lobster or crap like that. Just normal fucking Kroger type stuff.

jimthefiend 06-09-2006 08:39 PM

Oh yeah that should read "consumables" instead of groceries. Not just food but stuff like light bulbs, shit paper, windex etc.

Jace 06-09-2006 08:39 PM

we buy normal shit too and we are up to about $150-200 a week just for basic groceries....that shit gets more expensive every time we go...by the time I am 50 we will probably be spending $300 a week on shit, it sucks

and yeah, I mean shit you buy at the grocery store, not just food

wyldblyss 06-09-2006 08:42 PM

We spend minimum $300 a week at the grocery store, some weeks if there are sales on meat or something, we will stock up and spend $400 or more. We don't eat steak every night either, we eat things like pasta, chili, lasagna, stew, meatloaf etc. and once in a while steaks on the BBQ.

How many people in your household?

We waste though. Theres always a couple of chicken breasts or some ground chuck or some milk that gets tossed each week cuz it gets to smelling like Headless' armpitt.

WarChild 06-09-2006 08:45 PM

About $100. I eat a controlled diet high in fruits and vegetables though, and that's dirt cheap here.

jimthefiend 06-09-2006 08:45 PM

I'm just lucky that The Girl is 7 and still thinks a nacho Lunchable and some M&M's for desert is fine dining.

lololol

my wife and I, that is it

we are 100% total consumers, we have trash taken twice a week and we at least have 1 full trash can out front when they pickup....usually 2 though

I'm with you on that consumer thing. I just need to try harder to catch up. :thumbsup

I burn my trash, but if I had 5 bucks for every Barbie package I've burned I'd be a wealthy man.

notabook 06-09-2006 08:52 PM

Man just eat ramen noodles, god. Sure you'll die in a few months of malnutrition but shit, you'll only spend around a buck a day per person! THINK OF THE SAVINGS!

RhiannonAPM 06-09-2006 08:52 PM

When its just me and the kids its around 80 a week but when the boyfriend comes home and stays its around 150 a week. I take advantage of tv dinners and frozen deals at Vons!

Yeah, in Costa Rica fresh fruits and vegetables are dirt cheap. Things like prepared foods are not.

Keep in mind I only eat ~2500 calories a day.

I do spend another $100 or so on supplements each week, however.

Spunky 06-09-2006 08:57 PM

200 easily..the cat eats better than me

I forgot about my dogs.

3 Rottweilers, eating premium Eukanuba Veterinary Fish and Potato blend in a Third World Country = ~$300 a month.

edgeprod 06-09-2006 08:59 PM

Around $400/week through Peapod (if you figure I order roughly every 2 weeks, since we have huge freezers/fridges) -- but the extra cost is worth it to avoid the peons at the store.

Most of the extra cost doesn't come from stupid expensive shit, but from fruits/veggies to use in the juicer, etc. That shit is about $30/day.

I have a buddy that lives down there, he goes to the market once a month (it takes him 2 hours from the jungle to get there), he spends about $80 american for food that will last him, his wife and 2 babies for one month...that amazed me

People live in this country with families on $300 a month, including rent. Beans and rice, fruits and vegetables are dirt cheap.

you need a kroger card! and tell the ol' lady to kut some coupons!

rants 06-09-2006 09:23 PM

There's two people and we spend around $120 a week or less. Personally I don't eat much.

I only eat steak a few times a year, from research I found that it increases cancer risk and leads to early death, and when people die and they open up their intestines they will find TONS of POUNDS of decayed meat inside.

I try to avoid to much chicken, myabe 1 serving of chicken once a week, we weat salmon more often.

Mainly all we eat is like vegetables/fruits and that's dirt cheap. Just sautee with some olive oil and garlic and eat that with some BROWN rice and a SMALL portion of salmon, too much is not good either.

People who spend a lot on groceries often buy junk like frozen food, and too much meat which makes you die early.

Madonna is super rich and in great shape, and she says all she eats for dinner is the same as what I eat, brown rice, small portion of fish and some veggies.
That's what you eat if you want to be toned and fit like a celeb.

No seriously, I read this. And if you eat a lot of red meat you'll have to end up getting your colon cleaned out and crap it all out... :helpme

It really does increase your risk of cancers. Diet has a lot to do with it.

bangman 06-09-2006 09:28 PM

I usually spend $150 3x a month on groceries for myself and my brother.

We all die sometime and I'd rather die knowing I enjoyed meat.but you're right

woj 06-09-2006 09:45 PM

I don't think I've ever spent more than $100 on groceries per week, and it's not like I eat romen-noodles every day. I just try to be efficient with what I buy, don't waste food, don't buy useless junk, try to catch a sale, etc...

OG LennyT 06-09-2006 10:01 PM
