Are you a spender or saver?...

After Shock Media 06-09-2006 03:14 PM

Saver.

Grew up poor and my great grandparents who watched us all of the time hammered in the value of saving. Plus they instilled alot of other quirks from the whole depression era thing.

D 06-09-2006 03:15 PM

a bit of both...

usually, I'm a saver, but I just moved in with my girlfriend, so I'm spending a bunch on the new place now.

Yeah, it really depands on how you are raised, i think.

BluewireAngie 06-09-2006 03:30 PM

Shit! I'm a spender.

But I'm paying some insurance right now. Is that counted as savings?

Depends on the type of insurance.

rants 06-09-2006 03:33 PM

Saver.

Money is extremely important to me and every PENNY and DOLLAR spent is like a stab in the heart.

I feel like it's my child and I have to protect it and every dollar needs to be watched.

Webby 06-09-2006 05:25 PM

Prob saver - avoid "spending" unless it earns more. But hell... break out now and then when there is time to waste.

Spunky 06-09-2006 05:26 PM

I always try to save atleast 20 %..

czarina 06-09-2006 05:39 PM

IM a saver, but when I spend I spend big. Like right now, we are saving to build a new home. We plan to pay cash.

Compulsive spender. I was raised to save too but I'm way too immature and undisciplined to carry through...

I'm both. I spend (within my means) to enjoy life and motivate me to earn more. I save to buy assets which generate more income.

nico-t 06-09-2006 06:27 PM

minusonebit 06-09-2006 06:28 PM

gecko 06-10-2006 12:41 AM

I am a compulsive spender :(

Amysworld 06-10-2006 12:47 AM

I spend A LOT. Tip too much and expensive purses and shoes are my downfall.

I happen to think that most men are savers and most women are spenders. Not all, just most.

You agree?

bknoob 06-10-2006 12:49 AM

guilty spender :(

I never did understand some models who, immediately a shoot is over, - they disappear to buy a $600 pair of shoes and a $400 purse - then use this stuff about 2 - 3 times. Is it a fetish or something? :winkwink:

And.. well, it's almost a joke in the studio - they then hook up with guys who have no clue or hope of any life and get landed with a load of baggage - which they usually pay for :pimp

PS.. Instead of.. or in addition to a Model Agency, we need to start a Model Protection Agency, but I sure don't want to "play" in that crap! :1orglaugh

And then... let me guess.. beg you to shoot some more when they run out of money from their spending spree?

Thank goodness my ends have always justified my means.

:1orglaugh Oh yea! That's not too uncommon!

Most of the girls are fine tho and well-balanced - it's just the exceptions that stand out a mile :winkwink:

notabook 06-10-2006 01:12 AM

Yep! :thumbsup

And investing in stuff that increases in value and does not require extra work - land.. and homes if you must.

CaptainHowdy 06-10-2006 01:52 AM

I tend to go with the spreaders :winkwink:!!

cheekycherry 06-10-2006 01:52 AM

Extremely interesting thread. I'm a big saver too but I guess I would be the minority.

Interesting.

Maybe the amount of people here that said SAVE is an indication of the type of people we are as business men (and women)? Maybe it is a common trait of business people?

(although I'm partial to cars, most of the rest gets saved).

Who knows CC - I've known people with more money than 99.99% here and they are just reckless and.. really bad business people. Basically they ended up with money thru being in a certain place at the right time - then proceed to lose the lot and file for bankruptcy.

The traditional "plodder" biz person who works hard to does all the right things, is at least usual stable - tho many never earn massive amounts.

Then there's the "career moneymaker" - work long hours - ignore, or get someone else to sort the detail - very sharp and usually trained at some point. They can earn "extreme millions" - in excess of a $1 bill. Know two of them and neither actually "likes" the work/stress they are under - but it's almost like drugs to them. Typically they will tell how they are going to "retire" - but rarely do :winkwink:

Suppose generally they all have a tendency to "save" on whatever scale matches their comfort level.

iDope 06-10-2006 02:14 AM

Spender.. just save the bare minimum.

rowan 06-10-2006 05:05 AM

Somewhere in between. I'm doing a fair bit of equity leveraging at the moment to hopefully maxmise future returns.
