obviously this isnt directed at most of you webmasters but the ones that DO workout, how much do you work out? I usually do 30 mins within the 1st 2 hours that im awake. barely seeing any results though. so, what do you do and for how long?? im thinkin about taking up health & fitness as a hobby. starting to really get into it. :upsidedow

OG LennyT 06-09-2006 11:53 AM

axelcat 06-09-2006 11:53 AM

I try and workout atleast 3 days a week for about 1 hour each time

WarChild 06-09-2006 11:54 AM

1 Hour cardio - Six days a week in the morning.
1 Hour weights - 3 days a week, in the afternoon
1.5-2 Hours Brazilian Jiu Jitsu - 5-6 days a week, in the evening.

do you break up the 1 hour into (2) 30 min sessions? or just 1 straight hour of cardio & resistance/weights?

i had an oreo cookie the other day, gained 2 lbs. no joke lol i RARELY buy snacks, i workout 5 times a week, eat 3 (small) meals a day, and im still gaining and losing weight (depends on the day). so i feel ya. lol i was blessed with terrible genes. if we have sugar or high fructose syrup or carbs, we gain a ton of weight and FAST. luckily, i've learned this so now i can adopt my lifestyle to it and work around it.

J. Falcon 06-09-2006 11:57 AM

You need to count calories and fat grams. Make a notebook, write down everything you eat, and find it's caloric value: http://www.ntwrks.com/~mikev/chart1.html

You might be surprised what you're actually eating. You probably need to eat a lot less, and you're probably getting fat grams in huge numbers without even thinking about it. Genes do factor in, but not as much as diet. :2 cents:

feel my pain...

my typical day's meals look something like this:

breakfast - 1 Yoplait Lite Yogurt (~100 calories) and diet coke

Lunch - Salad consisting of lettuce, cherry tomatoes(5-6), a little red onion and green pepper, sometimes a little cucumber, 2 tablespoons of feta cheese and about 2 tbs. of vinaigrette. diet coke

Dinner - Last night I had grilled chicken (1 breast) with grilled portabello's, tomatoes, onions and pineapple plus a glass of white wine.

and i am AT LEAST 80 pounds too fat. and that is a typical day for me. About once a week I go to dinner out with friends, but I don't go crazy except we do usually stop and get an ice cream maybe every two weeks.

explain that to me...please!

with that and your biking all the time............seriously, have you seen a doc?

sounds like it's way not your overconsumption of food or being a sloth like the rest of us...I'd wager a thyroid or some other metabolic issue going on...

sorry for asking a pretty personal question, but whoa! if I biked and ate like that I'd not be 80 pounds overweight, but more like weigh 80 pounds total...I attribute my fat assness purely to normal shit, ate too many calories last year and didn't get my sweat on enough...

no clue. some people are like that, my mom is one of them. she was working out ALOT, cut out all sugar (just splenda stuff), became a vegatarian and everything...she lost i think like 20 lbs and that was it. That was for like 2 yrs of work though. she gave up (as i would too at that point) and shes gained all of her weight back PLUS some.

butterflybucks 06-09-2006 12:10 PM

4 days gym
2 days basketball

Funbrunette 06-09-2006 12:11 PM

Everyday I run on the treadmill for a minimum of 30 minutes, but lately I've been doing 45 min. :winkwink:

BluewireAngie 06-09-2006 12:15 PM

10 mins every other day.:) Threadmill and some stretching.

But I'll be doing cardio next week in the GYM coz I got a free membership for a year.

I'm 100lbs, 5'2" and I fell like I'm to skinny so I need to gain some weight and muscles.

AZRG 06-09-2006 12:18 PM

I dont work out workout, i hate gyms, i think they are so creepy, a bunch of people sweating on machines, to each their own.. i live right on the ocean so i try to run that once or twice a week, i eat well, drink lots of water, dont do drugs, drink occasionally, so far my metabolism has been great to me, but im 20 so im sure that will change, and then i may have to hit up the gym lol

DutchTeenCash 06-09-2006 12:21 PM

:1orglaugh most of my close friends are doctors! they are always saying "you don't eat that much, I don't get it". That being said, I've never had a test of any kind.

I love riding the bike, except when it gets super humid as it does here in the summertime. holy shit....maybe I'm croaking from some weird condition and I don't even know it!

don't get me wrong, I do my share of sitting on my rear. I've been in this chair so long today that my ass hurts! but hell, my best friend eats three times what i eat and weighs 40 pounds less.

what a waste of energy. maybe I'll stop riding the bike and just gain another 25.

CherryLipsRosa 06-09-2006 12:29 PM

i use to go every day and do cardio for 1 hour. now i go like 3 times a week.

sweetgirl2006 06-09-2006 12:29 PM

i try and work out 2 twice a week.

L0rdJuni0r 06-09-2006 12:33 PM

i am in need of some working out...

anne 06-09-2006 12:38 PM

I work out but not eveyday too hard to fit it in some days. I try to work out everyother day. I take long hikes in the woods and on the beach and do a lot of yoga. Yoga really helps at slimming down your muscles and its not real strenuous. :)

I used to run and swim but now i just dont have the time for it.

Odie 06-09-2006 12:39 PM

If you're over weight then you have to work your way up to at least a min of 1 hour to see any results from just doing cardio. a 1/2 hour is doing you absolutely nothing as your heart needs to be brought up to its max and kept there for an extended period of time in order to burn any calories/fat.

try adding 5 or 10 mins each time or each week and work up to one hour of full cardio and you won't even notice it after a while.

I do hope that you are eating properly and doing other exercises besides a hahlf hour of cardio :)

Wow, that would freak me out too...I can appreciate good eating and fasting occasionally just to 'clean out' etc...but doing that regularly and not loosing weight...well I'd say it's high time to ask one of your buds for a ref to a good endocrinologist and get a few tests done...

Great thread btw...reminded me that I'm supposed to workout today.

:thumbsup

WebairGerard 06-09-2006 12:55 PM

need to hit the gym more often but I at least do 100 pushups, 100 crunches every night and try to get a few good, fast paced, long walks in every week.

Badagirls
you can do it, just if you have bad genetics or problems getting in the shape you want you have to make some changes. Diet is one of the main things. here is the diet that I had made by my trainer (Diana Dennis) when I was getting ready for the Orange County Muscle Classic, it will give you an idea. plus you should break your meals down into several smaller ones. A bad diet can cancel out any exercise program

No wonder - youre not eating enough. youre basically starving yourself.

these threads are always a nice form of amusement.
