Newbie needs an explanation
 

Hello you all,

I asking you guy a short explanation.
I'm planning going in the business too, and I'm actually reading and getting infos a lot.

But, I'm not a native English speaker.
Altough I can usually catch what anything means, I fail to firmly grasp the concept of "conversion".

Could someone explain me exactly what it is ?

My guess would be a valid unique visitor sent to a referral site, who have buyed something, but I'm not completly certain about that.

A conversion, or you may here people talking about their conversion ratios is simply people talking about how many people they send to a sponsor before they get a signup.

How many people click on your sponsor link and how many signups you get
(i.e. 1:100, 100 persons clicked on your sponsor link and you got 1 sale)

It can also be used in other contexts... how many people converted from trial to full membership; free signups to paid signups, etc.
