news flash people - $37K means shit

i bought a tgp 4 years ago for $35K and it was worth it. it was under 100K hits a day

buing a site the size of ah-me for $37K - with people like shap and pierre bidding on it - means something, and it's ain't good.

think about it.

Eager seller and smart buyer. Plus who knows what was in the deal. You say shap was bidding on it. Did he make a firm bid? In the end he lost the deal no matter how it went.

Sounds like a bunch of sour grapes to me.

pussyluver 06-09-2006 02:27 AM

I know someone that knows someone that would have given 'em a $100K for the sites.

Bro Media - BANNED FOR LIFE 06-09-2006 02:28 AM

i can give 100 things i can use $35k on instead of a tgp ;)

mOrrI 06-09-2006 02:31 AM

Well what things????

shap offered them $40k and they went with $37k instead

madawgz 06-09-2006 02:37 AM

think about it, 37,000$ is a working mans salary for 1 year! :|

I am going to make a observation here that might offend you, but you have to be the #1 most useless poster on GFY

I still don't understand why it went so cheaply. My TGPs are nowhere near the size and power they were a couple of years ago but they still make more than $37k in a year. I'm assuming that ah-me has much better quality traffic than the typical skimming TGP so that $37k would be less than a year's revenue. If the owner was so strapped for cash, why not get a loan and use the future revenue to pay it off? That way you have your cash now, and your site in a year.

lazycash 06-09-2006 03:53 AM

It means sleazydream.com is worth a fraction of what you think it is, time to diversify finally sleazy.

I have no idea what sites sleazy operates, but I'm willing to bet my left testicle that he has much more going on than just sleazydream.com. He doesn't seem like a stupid guy to me.

rockbear 06-09-2006 04:09 AM

The problem with ah-me is that it seems to be banned by google. :(

It depends on the sellers and buyers. Websites aren't like houses that have appraised values. Websites take into account current earnings plus future potential. That can differ from person to person. A good website owner who has invested in the growth of his site, the technology behind it, and the reputation it has will see great returns. You simply can't look at a site from the outside and say based on this traffic it is worth this much.

I bought a site a year ago for 8k. It had a few bidders on it but nothing special. But to me, the site was worth 30k atleast. It had tens of thousands of backlinks already, a good user base, and consistent SE traffic. I knew with some tweaks to the site and new content I'd be able to bring in more cash. The site now brings in close to 4k profit. It was brining in 300 when I started. The last owner didn't know how to monetize properly and didn't know what he had, nor did other potential buyers.

Prolly cause the deal was done, details agreed too and money wired??????? Or something else we don't know?????? Personally, If I had that asset, I would of gone for more than $40K. But I don't know the details or the need to move quick.

Always want to NOT be in the position of having to sell.

The bitch across the street got a new job in another state and had to sell her house. She didn't wanna fuck with it, so she took the first ridiculous offer that came along and now that hurt values for the rest of us.

FreeFastHost 06-09-2006 06:43 AM

If he really wanted to he probably could have gotten over $100k for it.

Sleazydream : "if the rumors are true - i wonder how smart it is to take to take over a deal that had a verbal agreement on sale with some of the largest and most loved people in tgp"

Sleazy please let me address this, the rumors are not true, I do not believe anyone had a verbal agreement to sell at a 'set price' before us.

Shaps own words
"I tell him to not sell without contacting me first and I'll match any offer. Pierre obviously had his own conversation where he expressed his interest"

Does this sound like a solid concreate written in stone verbal agreement for a "set price"???

Some people might like to take there time and sell a site slowly and contact all parties to secure the highest bid. But the fact is money talks sometimes and we had it ready to send in Epassporte and we organized the deal with Crysty for hours before finalizing the deal. Crysty wanted the money fast and we could provide that service. We were also the highest bidders for hours and certainly did not just "snipe" this off someone else.

That does not screw anyone over in my book and I'm sorry some people feel annoyed that they were promised an ability to bid and didn't get that ability.

Sleazy I hope we can continue trading with your excellant site Sleazydream.com. Was great meeting you in Manilla last December hope to catch up again sometime. Wildcash will soon be buying large amounts of paid spots in bulk and I look forward to hopefully buying some paid spots on some of your sites also.

Wish you all the best and have a great weekend :thumbsup

se's are usually not much of a concern for most high-traffic tgp's

I'm not pissed about the situation. I just had fun ridiculing somebody who lied to me and screwed my buddy (Pierre). If you had read my posts in the other thread you'll have seen he agreed to a deal with Pierre. The price and deal was agreed. They were discussing how to pay. They agreed on epass and then out of the blue he notified Pierre that sorry somebody just paid me before you. This is after agreeing to the deal and discussing how it would be paid. So you think agreeing to a deal and discussing pay details and then out of the blue saying sorry somebody paid me now this is over is ok? Come on dude. You have to be smarter then that. If you have a problem with me fine. But don't make yourself look like you can't read by defending an idiot.

Matt you might want to read the other thread. I had no deal with him. But Pierre did. He verbally agreed to the deal with Pierre. Pierre has the logs. Crysty is a jackass. Be happy you got it over Pierre. Some advice to you, avoid defending this guy. He is a liar.

Shap fair enough bro, I don't know everything Crysty said to other people true.

We had a verbal agreement for a set price as well and just before paying another bidder came out with a higher price so we lost that price and that agreement and had to bid higher or loose the deal. Personally that made sense to me as knowing how people are in this industry a verbal agreement is usually only good until a higher bidder comes along from another person. Securing the purchase with money down is usually a different story and usually secures the deal.

Anyways I'm sorry it went down the way it did and that Pierre lost out on the deal that way that was promised to him. Wish you & Pierre all the best going forward and hope we can leave this all in the past.

Cheers

Matt

Out of curiousity what time did you pay him? He strung Pierre along and was working the deal with him at 10:30pm est and he claimed to me he was close to a deal at 11:30pm est. My guess is you guys worked the deal way before that since directnic had the domain transferred over when I was emailing him.
