The earthquake was not in jakarta but Yogyakarta, its about 7 hours from here. My fiancee Mother was there when it happened, she was visiting her daughters & the family. There house was damaged so they had to move with her parents again with her 2 children in a town called Bogor, like 45 minutes from Jakarta. Luckily nothing happened to them.

Of all Indonesian areas I don't think Jakarta would be on my list to frequent atm. But I put that down to what I'm told via the local media and well that's not the most reliable source in the world.

I have been using my epassporte with no problems yet, just need to be careful what ATM you use. Some charge ridicilous bank fees. I have heard yes ATM could be risky sometimes. For example, one time my fiancee withdrawled money and never got it but the next person using the same ATM, got my fiancee money also. Luckily she gave the money to her.
