hmm, what barcelona have you been too then ?

life is very cheap here, and yes there are gay people here,

they usually go to places like sitges and not barcelona capital

that being said, less competition for the rest of us , and girls are already happy and content when they find out you are not gay , loool

Gay capital huh? Well as long as by gay you mean lesbian girls who are actually bi, who love threesomes with american guys who cant speak spanish, then that sounds sweet.

$1000?!?! That's seems pretty cheap. Here in SoCal a nice apartment in Newport Beach costs about $1500+ a week. I don't know how close the standards are, but a $1000 a month is not bad at all. I imagine that's Euros or something so what $1500-$2000/month with exchange to USD?

Mike AI 08-07-2006 08:19 AM

Barcelona is a wonderful city, only had 5 days there but loved every second. There are a ton of hot chicks, and a great fun vibe in the city.

I definately want to get back and spend more quality there!

I've lived for 2 years 10Km outside of Barcelona in Sant Cugat del Valles. that
was in '96 - '98 I paid $3000 rent for my appartment granted it was a NICE
appartment. Barca is in my top3 of best EU cities. :thumbsup

b.t.w. it's in Catalunya NOT SPAIN :winkwink:

Sarah_Jayne 08-07-2006 08:45 AM

I have a friend that moved there last year. He is always bugging me to go visit. I really should do it.

Gunni 08-07-2006 08:48 AM

I lived there for a while and its still one of my favourite towns in the world.

Real estate prices are getting crzy though.

Here we go, some memories of Barcelona from a few years ago:

- Spanish cuisine must be among the worst in the world. Nowhere close to classic Italian, Chinese, French, Indian or even Turkish dining. Does Spain have any culinary history at all? Each dish appears to be full of fat and lacking taste and nutrients. Horrible.
- Spanish people tend to be lazy. Stores shut down in the afternoon. If you want to buy something at 2pm you're fucked.
- Prices: Do not expect anything cheap here. Thanks to tourism they got people paying premiums on everything. I remember I went to some club on a Sat night and they charged overpriced cover fees without offering anythign "special" such as a bunch of DJs or anything. Of course the cover gets you no liquor, not a single drink. Those started at 20 Euro for Vodka/Red Bull. Lots of chubby chicks being chased by skinny spanish boys with mullet hair cuts. You end up paying 100-150 Euro for nothing. Garbage DJ, garbage interior atmosphere, ultra packed club. At least they had AC.
- I am not sure how much this applies to Barcelona, but I hear areas such as Malaga and some islands such as Mallorca are infested with wealthy foreigners. Russians, Germans, British. Before you move anywhere, make sure you check out what type of scum occupies the surrounding neighbourhood.

mikaels 08-07-2006 11:04 AM

Barcelona is a very nice place to live...A bit too hot in the summer but still very nice.

You can start looking for a place to rent at Loquo(com)

The most expensive area is El Borne but its where all is happening hash, E's, bars, partys and afters...... You can get a nice decent flat at El raval (crossing El Borne) and also in L'Eixample (mid town) for about 1000 (unfurnished but expenses included).

If you are already in town, please get a spanish dictionary and check out a flats newspaper called "PRIMERAMÁ" is out every monday. Great deals over there....:thumbsup

That's cheap! When I went there 2 years ago I stayed in the quartier gothic. Is that still a cool place?

E$_manager 08-07-2006 08:43 PM

i love Barcelona, Latin area, Gaudi, la Rampla. I was there for 5 days all in all. The prices for fruits and Martini made me glad i was there.

Spain has tappas. Which is a series of fried, greasy appetizers they deem a wholesome meal. Barcelona does have many, many restaurants though.

A large % of a stores and businesses close down at 2pm and do not re-open until 4pm or 5pm. Banks, stores, etc etc.

Barcelona is still relatively 'pure'. You have the white trash of Europe (the English) in the bars and college parts, but for the most part the city was not infested with scum.

soukee 08-08-2006 12:54 AM

I have been there for one week only but like it:thumbsup

El Borne the most expensive area :) Surely you jest.

You obviously have not checked out prices on P.D.G. near Diagonal.

El Borne is where you go to puke on the street, smoke weed, and watch the crack heads cough up black goop from the bottom of their souls.

VideoContentSource 08-08-2006 01:23 AM

I visited Marbella in 1998 and havn't left since. It's by far one of the best places to live. 320 days of sunshine, excellent food, hot girls, luxury surroundings.:thumbsup
