the Shemp 05-26-2002 10:04 PM

loaded ok for me,

shemp

AWW - Kevin 05-26-2002 10:13 PM

g33k ?

thank's Shemp :winkwink:

it loads fine for me as well but lately a few ppl have contacted me
saying all they get is a grey background and that it takes a long time to load.

posh rat in hell 05-26-2002 10:24 PM

Loaded slow for me, I would guess the CSS may be the problem, or perhaps the tables (tables dont get rendered until it reaches /table, and the whole thing is a big table, so that may cause it).

Amputate Your Head 05-26-2002 10:25 PM

somewhat slow here too

Pipecrew 05-26-2002 10:26 PM

Quick on this end

I thought this was just a cleverly camoflaged spam, it's slower death.

pipp 05-26-2002 10:30 PM

Loaded fast here

Living For Today 05-26-2002 10:38 PM

It seemed pretty good here kevin. Took about 2 seconds.

RedShoe 05-26-2002 10:51 PM

about 12 seconds on my DSL

Fletch XXX 05-26-2002 10:54 PM

i dont get it... some light blue boards cant even be linked from here without being http://s********-********.com yet some can do a "my page is too slow try it for me" thread? LOL

Theo 05-26-2002 10:55 PM

it loads fast, but everything appears in screen only when almost 100% of the page is loaded. The dialup webmasters won't like it.

Dirty F 05-26-2002 10:58 PM

Had some problems loading it from Holland.
Looked at a blank screen for 4 secs.

Mr.Fiction 05-26-2002 11:31 PM

Extremely slow, just a gray background for at least 5 seconds here.

Mr.Fiction 05-26-2002 11:34 PM

I copied your source into Dreamweaver and you seem to have some bad tags that either aren't closed or something. You should validate the html to start with.

ditto on
adsl

chodadog 05-26-2002 11:44 PM

It just seems like it's taking a while to render the page.. that's all. It's loading in a quick enough time.. it's just that it seems nothing is happening for a while, then all of a sudden the entire thing is loaded. odd...

Maybe because the whole page is inside of one table big table? You could try putting the logo and the top menu buttons in their own tables to see if they would render while the rest of the page is downloading? I don't know. Where are all the design gurus tonight?

mike503 05-26-2002 11:59 PM

tables shouldn't be the issue. it's only 34k of html to download.

i tried using IE5's little "Save As.." command that usually will grab a browsable copy of the page locally (i do this to examine how big a page is, graphics and all) and i keep getting "not enough memory to download this page"

something is fucked. but the page loaded decent on my DSL, and it looks pleasant.

that's my point !

i'm told it can take up to 25seconds for a first time visitore,
don't think too many webmasters are prepaired to wait that long

:(

Mr.Fiction 05-27-2002 01:05 AM

As a test, try removing some of the external files that it looks for.

Like this javascript link:
banners/index/120x60_4.js

And this CSS link:
templates/subSilver/formIE.css

Then see how it loads.

Tipsy 05-27-2002 01:55 AM

From this end on ADSL it wasn't toooo slow but did seem it. Main problem for me as has already been pointed out is that it loaded all the page before displaying. People are used to getting things start to pop up quickly.

yeah i doubt it takes any longer than normal, just psychologically it seems to take longer because things aren't loading one by one.

Hypo 05-27-2002 02:07 AM

Wow, 4-5 seconds of grey, then *BAM*! Get everything out of that big table and keep all tables separate. People will see a table at a time that-a-way.

rogerbo 05-27-2002 05:16 AM

Kevin
I did check with the hitbox it gave me

14.4K 81.63 seconds

28.8K 40.81 seconds

56K 20.63 seconds

128K ISDN 8.54 seconds

1.44MB T1 0.91 seconds

And on a other one

28.8 kps (in Sek.): 24.38
64 kps (in Sek.): 10.97

jimmyf 05-27-2002 05:26 AM

Loaded ok for me...
