When we edit the video from tape we convert it to a AVI format 720 x 576 1600 bit rate.

This is so that in the future we can recompress them to a higher standard.
Would you like the possibility to buy this version?

We would upload it direct to you from the office.
Too big to keep on the server unless demand is great.

Having the raw footage can come in handy.

As the Net speeds up there seems to be different options.

Re compress yourself as the demand for better quality increases.
Rely on the content provider to do it for you.

Ignore the guys prepared to spend more money.

a) 1600 kbit is hardly raw.
b) avi is a container, not a codec.

DV is considered 'raw enough' stick with that for selling 'raw'

I'm converting DV on some stuff and it's not coming up as nice as what we have, I could be doing it wrong though.

We tried to get it to a size so a single scene will fit on a DVD. Doing true RAW would have to be on tape and that's what we give DVD clients.
