WASHINGTON - New York Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton lashed out at Ann Coulter for a ?vicious, mean-spirited attack? on a group of outspoken 9/11 widows, whom the right-wing television pundit described as ?self-obsessed? and enjoying their husbands? deaths.

Coulter writes in a new book, ?Godless: The Church of Liberalism,? that a group of New Jersey widows whose husbands perished in the World Trade Center act ?as if the terrorist attacks happened only to them.?

She also wrote, ?I?ve never seen people enjoying their husbands? deaths so much.?

I have to change the channel right away if she is on. I loathe her.

I dont much care for her but she makes a decent point. It's just like cindy sheehan, she used her sons death for attention and political propaganda. I feel bad for anyone who loses a loved one, but I start to lose my sympathy once I see them using that loss for their own gain.

The "Jersey Girls", like Cindy Sheehan, have used their personal losses to become political activists.

Simply put, they are not immune criticism, since they have no problem using the media and other public forums to "blame and flame" others..... :disgust

That's how to turn a negative event into something positive..like the parents of kids who get hurt on unsafe baby equipment using that event as a platform to further their cause-making safe baby equipment. I know it's an apples and oranges comparison, but to expect them to sit home and do nothing when they feel so strongly about something is really unrealistic. If my son was killed in the war, and it made my voice louder than the other anti-war cryers, damn right I'd be using that to get my message across.

Using your example, lets say it is your opinion that you kid got hurt on the unsafe baby equipment and you cant prove it. Shouldn't the company that manufactures the baby equipment in question be able to prove their case?

Are the widows making millions off their husbands deaths and are they brainless ex-trophy wives potentially being used as puppets for a political agenda or marketing machine? Probably. And note that when you become a public figure you become open to more criticism also from other public figures.

Sure, and anybody is free to call her out on that or anything else for that matter. Sometimes when people take a stand on an issue they become more than your average private citizen. They become recognized by the general public and have influence. Criticism, sometimes harsh, comes with the territory.
