Shit! Just lost my lost my laptop hard drive.
 

Aww man!!! just went to move the mouse and i get beep beep "there is no bootable disk installed f1 to retry or f2 to enter system"

I'm pretty sure it's gone. damn machine was spinning fullspeed and when I shut everthing down and pulled out the HD it was about 100 degrees.

I've been moving all my mail and other shit off of it, hopefully I got everything.

I guess I'll just have to wait until i need something and I can't find it.

I lost one last week. Bummer.

is it really possible to have your hard drive fall out of your laptop?

They have services that will recover data on crashed hard drives...but they are expensive as all hell!

SpinRite has worked some miracles for me on drives we thought were otherwise toasted. I would definitely try that on your drive before tossing it, especially if you have anything on there worth saving. Cheaper than data recovery service, and ideal disk format repair in case of random corruption, spyware damage, or other mishaps.

No relation to them, just a thankful customer.

Same shit happend to me. What model is it?
I had my inspiron laptop in the garage with me while I was working on the car, then all of a sudden the entire thing just shut off and refused to boot up.

that sucks, i hate it when it happends....

having a drive die, certainly sucks..

see if you can use an EIDE cable anbd power and run it as a slave in your main pc to get data off it, if the drive spins it still might be salavageable
