The Sultan Of Smut 06-06-2006 02:58 PM

Nice work dude, I just went cold turkey and dealt with being a grumpy asshole for the first few days.

B2BwithJoeD 06-06-2006 02:58 PM

Never smoked, but kicked 6-8 liter/day diet coke binge three months ago :(

Hang in there - takes 21 days to break a habit...still get the craving now and then...but no more :thumbsup

Ok, lol, i said that so many times. Watch, you will wake up @ night searching for a cig. You have to throw all your lighters away, cig away and go get the patch or gum.

Trust me! Do it. :thumbsup

Sigh... yes. I know. But my throat feels like crap. I havent been to bed and I am able to smoke right here.

**Leaves to get rid of all ashtrays and lighters**

Ok... I have smokeproofed my house.

So what are you doing when you get the urge?

Congratz, man. Take it one day at a time until you hit that 6 month hump. After that it's smooth sailing. I've been smoke free for over 2 years now.

I quit 9 days ago, and its SHIT ! I'm coughing more now than ever before :( In fact not only am I coughing , Im coughing like an 80 year old woman . It's really not very encouraging. Although I am starting to feel a bit better now . Did anyone else cough more when they gave up than when they smoked? How long does it take to go away ? :(

Your lungs are clearing out some, it takes a while I quit for 8 months and coughed for 3 1/2 especially in the morning.

Amysworld 06-06-2006 09:55 PM

God forgive me.... I have soiled your temple again.

Damn things.

iWeb_Iya 06-06-2006 11:40 PM

this must be temporary. Besides - you probably quitted in 1 day . You need to do it slowly :Oh crap

E$_manager 06-07-2006 06:09 AM

Anyway, this is a great idea - do not give up!

CaptainWolfy 06-07-2006 06:56 AM

In canada we got PICTURES of rotten lungs and people dying 'from smoking' to discourage people from it; doesnt seem to work.

I tried 4 times; once for 4 months, second time more then 6 months, 3rd was over a year and last time was 2 years and a half. For some damn reason I always come to a point where I dont give a flying fuck while drinking and light one 'just for the heck of it'. It just gets me right back to it. God Im so addicted :(

Next time will be the right one!!

gooddomains 06-07-2006 07:04 AM

it's the right thing to do

Tat2Jr 06-07-2006 07:05 AM

Congrats! I quit (again) a few weeks ago. Bought and enjoyed a pack during the Redneck Getaway (when in Rome), but have quit (yet again). It's hard but worth it. I've quit about 5 times now with the longest time inbetween being 10+ years. The shortest time inbetween was over a year. The trick is to NEVER take another drag... it leads to a pack, which leads to a carton, which leads to another year+ smoking.

MaddCaz 06-07-2006 07:05 AM

I know its anger but do ya thing player!

True dat. For most of us, there really is no such thing as just one cig.

I am at about 3 months now and going strong. you can do it man.

The gum is a great way to get you instantly "off cigs", then you just have to wean yourself off the gum.

Good luck! :thumbsup Your body, your family, your friends will thank you.

Mr. Romance 06-07-2006 10:38 AM

lucky for you.
i smoked but quitted when got pregnant :winkwink:

biftek 06-08-2006 07:06 AM

came down with a cold/flu , been 6days without a smoke , i went cold turkey , first day cravings , second day was a little better , 3rd day it didn't even enter my mind
i suppose i did cheat a little , i slept most of the time , got it out of my system without to much of a bother

today had work at the radio station , was talking to a few others around the station , they were going out for a smoke , the big test they offered a smoke to me , no hesitation i knocked it back , stood out the back talking with them , me with my coffee and them with their smokes , there was no temptation to light one up
