Gay Marriage - Yea or Nay?

It seems like Bush is busy bashing the gays and trying to create laws banning gay marriages at the Federal level. I'm a bit dissaponted that there haven't been more threads about this, if only because we have a huge gay population in the adult industry which are fully represented here on GFY.

I have no problems with gays having the same rights I enjoy with my wife, and would gladly vote Yes for gay marriages.

How about everyone else?

dissipate 06-05-2006 11:03 PM

I think gays should be given all the legal rights of a legally married couple. I don't believe they should be married in a church, but those are just personal beliefs.

Gay Marriage = fine with me.

This is just an election year ploy. They know full well that it won't get past Congress. This is just aimed at getting the conservative base energized. Unfortunately, it might not work like in 2004. Back then, there were several key states that had "defense of marriage" type initiatives on the ballot. This movement is for a constitutional amendment--different battleground and removed far from the "base."

L0rdJuni0r 06-05-2006 11:10 PM

let them do what they want :2 cents:

chadknowslaw 06-06-2006 12:25 AM

My old college roommate thinks that everybody-- gay , straight or british, should go through the pain and suffering of divorce like he had to go through with his ex-wife, so he is all for gay marriage.

sweethotkayla 06-06-2006 12:40 AM

If straight people should are aloud to marry, so should gay people end of story!

ServerGenius 06-06-2006 12:43 AM

They should be able to get married just like in the Netherlands the first country
in the world that legalized gay marriage :thumbsup

tony286 06-06-2006 12:47 AM

they should be able to get married like everyone else.

CaptainHowdy 06-06-2006 12:49 AM

I forgot to ask if this was an anonymous poll :helpme!!...

Warren 06-06-2006 12:57 AM

I have no probs with the gays, fact is they leave more women for the rest of us, not that I need one :winkwink: but for the average Joe its better odds in the field.

hezochiah 06-06-2006 12:58 AM

I still don't understand why so many politicians are worried about gay people getting married. Not only should it not be any of their business but doesn't it contradict with the whole issue regarding seperation of church and state.

dissipate 06-06-2006 02:03 AM

Where's BoyAlley?

headless ghost 06-06-2006 02:24 AM

I just don't give a fuck what gay people do.
its the insane son of a bitch in the white house that scars me.

I always wondered what would happen if a president was crazy or in some other way couldn't finish his term.
now I know.
they just leave him there.

Manowar 06-06-2006 02:25 AM

i dont really care, might as well allow it

Antonio 06-06-2006 02:27 AM

fuck, if they want to get married let them, can't see the problem at all

oh, wait, I can, politicians need votes, and there're million of redneck voters, and rednecks hate gays, niggas, Mexicans.....

Sarah_Jayne 06-06-2006 02:27 AM

I think that got thrown out the window a long time ago.

Of course gay people should be able to get married. Marriage is just a legal contract when you really break it down. I have never understood how the government could stop two adults from entering into a contract.

Violetta 06-06-2006 02:34 AM

Gay people should be able to marry who ever they want!

Yngwie 06-06-2006 02:35 AM

Personally, I say they should be able to get married. I don't care if you're gay or not we're all humans and should all have the same rights. All this bashing makes me think that the bashers are hiding something.

E$_manager 06-06-2006 02:59 AM

i don't care. I have nothing against it.

its an obvious yes, it will happen eventually when all the old people die off so why not just allow them now, most young people have no problem with gay marriage

I don't could care less about what other people do.

The honest truth is that I only care about myself and things which affect me directly. I could care less if someone wanted to marry a monkey.

You ever hear of adoption. There's tons of kids out there with no parents for various reasons.

Adopt it, be artificially inseminated (not all gays are men), have a surrogate mother... what year are you living in?

That, or we get rid of Iowa as a state.

I have nothing against gay people, but i do believe that they should not be allowed to be married, flame me, but it is just how i feel.

God invented man and women for man and women, but i love girl on girl so i guess what i am saying means nothing.

I couldn't care less, I don't care if they are not allowed to get married or if they can get married.

Really? Even if there were a God, which there isn't, but if there were, why did it take a snake and "Forbidden Fruit" to make them attracted to each other? Why would it be called The Original Sin if it were meant to be? Doesn't really seem like that's what God had in mind... that is, if you believe that crap.

beemk 06-06-2006 03:21 AM

if they want to get married thats their business, no one should be able to stop them.

What a question. Christ. You don't have to married to have kids either, its not the 18th century.

PLENTY of people marry who dont WANT kids EVER. Marriage is a symbol of their love, plus they get tax benefits, health benefits, what does kids have to do with anything? Not everything is about kids, its about the RELATIONSHIP.

A LOT of people/married couples don't want kids.

I would never want to dedicate my life to raising someone else, I want to enjoy it doing things for myself. Plus I want to keep as much money as I can. It's a personal choice.

Don't know why anyone would wanna get married??? Oh, maybe if you had kids on the way and even then. Most marriages end in divorce and that sucks.

Get married if you want! That's gay, bi, TV, TS, whatever. Hells bells let groups of people get married. Why not. If that happens in a church, that's fine too. I'm not about to tell a church who they can and can join in holy whatever.

If anything we should take the power away from the church to perform a legal act such as completing a marriage. That mixes church and state. Now that always invites problems. Take church out of the equation and we'd have fewer problems and arguments. Let the churches call it something else that is not legally binding.

i have no arguements. Just feel sad. :disgust

FetishDollars 06-06-2006 03:37 AM

I think it's their right to deside if they want to get married or not. I don't see any good reason to make such marriage illegal.

Yes, I understand to some people their child is the center of their universe and that they love their children more than anything. I respect that very much. But not everyone wants to have a child or be a mother! That's the great thing about living in America, it's a free country and people have the right to make their own choices! (This also plays in with the gays, I could care less about what they do.)

I don't understand why it's "sad" if someone doesn't want a child. Not everyone is maternal. Maybe some people want to concentrate more on career, some people want to travel their whole life, some people don't want to devote their life and existence to a child? Why is this sad? Some people would rather do other things... That's why we have something called birth control.

That's GREAT if it's your joy in life is to raise your child (I mean that), but it just isn't MINE. Everyone is different.

heidi hunni 06-06-2006 03:39 AM

yeah why not they do everything in their daily lives like a straight couple and should be treated no differently. They love eachother still so they should be given same rights as a straight couple.

heidi hunni 06-06-2006 03:41 AM

btw as for marrage in church, i wouldnt like to comment as im not religious at all

Romeo GaySearch4Sex 06-06-2006 03:41 AM

total election year ploy and a way to appease the conservative base since some republicans are worried about midterm elections... could very well be the same reason why they are prosecuting porn again (albeit, this is a smaller, less visable issue in the general US population)

I know people in massachusetts where gay marriage is legal, and unless you are gay and getting married, or you have gay friends that have, you would never know anything has changed.... there is still homophobia there, the society and culture are still pretty much the same.... just some gay people getting rights

Sarah, you are right - you love - you marry, even in church.
For the gays - is it so important? i mean this is all they get now - marriage - no chiildren, nochurch....

They get recognition of their love. They love the same as anyone else. Plus, not everyone gets married in a church. I didn't...I got married in a registar office.

In addition to which marriage brings a lot of 'rights' in the eyes of the law. It brings the right to inherit the property you shared together, it brings the right to be considered family if your partner is in the hospital. It gives you the power to the the person the people in the hospital have to clear all their decissions with where ass otherwise you have no say at all. Those are just a few reasons.

I don't know if you are married but there is a lot more to it than god and kids. I had neither and had a great marriage.

Barefootsies 06-06-2006 04:03 AM

They should be allowed to marry. But they are to be referred to as Civil Unions, not marriage.

Leave the fancy word for the church. The End.
