You may want to check with your state's Fish and Wildlife office re regulations on keeping a Serval. Also, even if your state allows it, check with city ordninance if keeping such a pet is legal.

This may save you a ton of headaches because ferret owners in New York City and in LA have run into these issues.

I don't own a ferret but live in California so I'm aware of the issue. There's currently a big controversy here about those lil furballs as well as other "undomesticated" animals. Apparently, Hawaii's state government is just as temperamental re "non native species." I guess the whole mongoose fiasco made them more cautious.

As well they should. Ferrets are nasty, stinky rodents. If they're not chewing up something of value, they're shitting on something of value.

Exterminate the lot and make coats for the homeless out of their pelts.

Here's a pic that a Canadian Paparazzi snagged of Labret's serval. He was then brutally attacked by Labret [the canadian] and fed to the Serval. We managed to retreive the film.

The doctor said Little Monty will be fine.

Its typical of the species. But that one is really exagerated. Probably the ugliest serval I have ever seen.

And they dont "meow" like a normal cat. They have a loud "chirp" sound.

are they hostile towards people ? It'd suck to have this kitty jump you whly you'r asleep.

I can only imagine you must need one hell of a scratching post for that thing. I have two domestic cats and its enough trouble keeping them from using our $800 jbl speaker grills for scratching posts. Not to mention they stalk me and corner me in the kitchen the moment I wake up, til I feed them. I can only imagine what an exotic kitty like that must be to care for.

Good luck raising that cute little beast. You should put up a page about his progress, and then sell people shit when they get there. I bet it would do rather well. hehe serval affiliate program

Ive contacted the Dept of Fish and Game who issues permits for exotic pets here in CA. I have yet to receive a response but it was late friday so I doubt I will get anything till at least tomorrow. I will post the response when it arrives....

That thing is so cute!!! Looks like it could be a handfull when it's full grown though.
