Here's What The Customer Wants

I've been saying for a long time that people don't go to sites to see fancy site graphics (so forget all those "seen one, seen 'em all" look-alike slick splash pages). All they care about is the content, and they much prefer exclusive content. This was confirmed in an e-mail I got from Adult Check which included a link to this page:

Don't spend your money on a graphic artist; spend it on a photographer.

Very nice summary of it. Was very surprised to see Adultcheck reversing some of it's policies. I haven't submitted to them in over a year b/c of their current ones.

Hmmm...we have 2 threads on this but WTF. I now have respect for AC again as many companies after being so positive they have something (so obviously wrong) right would just dig their heels in and not admit to it. The statement 'We fucked up' sums it up 100%, and how refreshing to see someone admit it.

content is king.

"Content is the #1 reason users return to websites"
- Forester Research

content is the critical mass, if you get it, even if your site looks like an amateur hack job, you'll get the retention and sales, which is what really matters.

flashy sites usually look good on the outside and offer the same old shit or a bunch of resold garbage on the inside. no retention there, just a quick signup from some poor shmoe who fell for it.

True - but then neither did AC and it's reviewers.

Like I said from day one, what you put in front of the surfer will effect your income.

Its not only quantity but quality, that counts.

The only dispute I have with it is how many AVS site owners can afford good exclusive?

I know some can but the question was "how many".
