What will kill the culture of celebrity?

It seems celebrity has reached an all time high. Was it always like this? Did people always become famous or notorious for looking good and acting.

Do you think the interest in this new type of celebrity will ever die? Will we get bored of celebrities because they're just people like you and me? Or will we remain deeply fascinated with them because they have more money and are more beautiful (in our collective eye) than us on average.

It will never die. The internet made celeb watching even more better than before. Before you had to buy some shitty tabloid. Now, the photographer can instantly upload celeb pics on-line right after they are taken and they'll be on-line the same day.

True celeb afficionados can check out Paris Hilton daily routine every single day on certain forums, you can watch on on Monday her going to grocery store and clubbing at night, on Tuesday going to get a facial and going to Starbucks, on Wednesday boarding a private jet, on Thursday in Cannes... etc

And pics are HUGE and high resolution so basically you can see every pore on her face. When she goes grocery store shopping you can zoom in and see what she bought, If she's carrying something like a piece of paper we can probably zoom in and even read it if the print is big enough...

It's 1000 times better than a tabloid, its instant gratification, you get the gossip shots on the same day that they were taken.

It will never die. People will always love and idolize celebs.
Plus they are also major fashion icons and can start trends by wearing something in public. If their seen wearing a certain item, once that shot hits the net, everyone will want to buy it.

I actually like celeb culture.

People have always into celebs, but the internet made it SO MUCH better.
Even in earlier centuries people were always into the social lives of kings and queens etc in Europe...

Cool. I was thinking that as access to celebs has increased, it's also opened the gates to more people becoming celebrities, often translating into shorter lifespan of celebs (if you're not on the cover or making headlines every day you're forgotten). I guess maybe we will go thru more celebs and info about them will be shared faster than in the past but we will forever remain interested in them.

it has already weakened do to the fact that there are just too many. Celebs have less power then they did just a few years ago.

Yea everyone is a celeb these days, somehow this girl named Kristin Cavalleri from the mtv show Laguna Beach became one sort of... All she did was start in a reality tv show and she made the front cover of US Weekly because she was talking to Nick Lachey and now she wants to be a "serious actress" :1orglaugh

Celebs make up things all the time to stay in the spotlight. I heard that Paris Hilton likes to have her publicist "leak" certain things in the press...

I don't think it has weakened. I visit a lot of forums and people are just fanatical , I mean like really fanatical. There's more celeb blogs than ever like Perezhilton and IdontLikeYouInThatWay and they are hugely popular.

No it won't, if anything, celebrity is even bigger in third world shitholes.

Celebrity obsession is fucking nuts, but I think we're all guilty of it.

Like this past week every entertainment show was talking about Brad Pitts new baby.

Who the fuck really cares what his baby looks like and why should we. A million kids were born last week, why should his be any different just cause he acts in movies. Its craziness.

i made a lot of money off celeb sites, so even though i very much despise it i don't mind if it sticks around. gonna start up celebritybbs.com soon!

This shit is going crazy when professionals off their pics to my site after they sell it to the tabloids in exchange for pimping traffic back to their agencies.

Now THAT's a first! And I'll take it. ;)

La Dolce Vita!

I think the trend is MORE celebrities, but with a SHORTER life-span.
