You're happy to see a site that steals endless amounts of content from this industry (and many others of course) go back up?

wedouglas 06-03-2006 07:18 AM

I think he probably downloads more music than porn haha

stealing ? they aren't stealing anything , all they do is provide links to where you can download stuff , much the same as what google/yahoo/msn do

Nah, they're stealing. They make over a million dollars a year off their ads. And how? By providing an avenue for people to steal content so yeah they are stealing off the work of others for profit

The Duck 06-03-2006 07:34 AM

yeah they are hypcrites but I love seing the swedish government embarrased.. worth gold. We are the last commie nation.

Hentaikid 06-03-2006 09:12 AM

Pirate sites aren't good for business, the sponsors that support them (Just look at the ads on tpb) should stop.

DaLord 06-03-2006 10:28 AM

Jesus christ what a bunch of nerds. I swear some of them looked like Jesus.

making a profit from the traffic is not stealing , as i said , they are just doing the same thing that google provides , a search engine

shit next thing you will be saying that the shopping center carpark is promoting car theft by providing a place to park a car

information is not illegal , its what the end user does with it that makes it illegal

elitegirls 06-03-2006 05:48 PM

close torrent sites, then google and other search engines.. it's the same think!
both provide access to illegal and legal content.

So you think a site like fileporn.org isn't hurting the industry?
AFF has ads on there I emailed them about it but they don't seem to care.

using google as an argument for whats "ethical" is prob not the best idea.. google is a wolf in sheep's clothing..

Using a parking garage an an example of how torrents work is also silly. The main purpose/usage of a parking garage isn't to commit theft.

With that said , im also not in total disagreement with you. But i think its a totally different angle..

When tapes first came out, dual cassete players ( to copy tapes ) soon followed. it was never a problem because , it usually only served to further promote the album..

When mp3's were invented , the recording industry was well aware of the threat and ignored it.

And as usual instead of fixing the problem they are trying to squash the problem the opposite way , by trying to punish the end users.

The resording industry needs to change with the times.. Why do people download new movie dvd's off the net..? because theres no legal way to buy them.. same with mp3's , it was a big problem because they had mp3's before you could legally buy them.. now they have fixed that problem ( somewhat )..

Heres how they fix the problem easy shmeazie.. GIVE THE PRODUCT AWAY.. people steal shit because its easier than buying it.. ,make it easier for them to get the movies and mp3's than stealing them and they will have solved the problem.. Dont want people stealing movies, give free copies away with watermarks on them, and offer them on blazing fast connections.. Lets be realistic, if you had a choice between streaming new movies with a coca cola logo int he corner or download a grainy camcorder version that takes 2 days , your gonna take the one with the watermark..

Beat them with speed and with quality. this goes for the adult industry as well and content theft.. offer a better easier way and people will go for it, money is secondary. people will pay for anything.. but not if they can get it faster and easier for free.

My network has been hit with 35 spoofed DNS queries per second for the past 25 hours (that's over 3 million packets so far...)

The idea is that the attacker sends out relatively small DNS queries that servers will respond to with a much larger reply. A 70 byte query might send out a 3000 byte reply. Multiply that by a few hundred or thousand queries per second ricocheted off various innocent networks such as mine and you have some serious DDoS happening.

Anyway, the point of all this: the spoofed source IPs point to the c class of the host of thepiratebay.org. Someone isn't happy that they're back up.

FrankWhite 06-03-2006 07:36 PM

It's no secret ThePirateBay.org existed for three years without any concern for copyright enforcement. The Swedish government and authorities seemed unconcerned, while Antipiratbyrhahaha229;n's (the Swedish Anti-Piracy Bureau) efforts equaled little more than a paper tiger.

Events would have likely continued in that direction, however according to a report by SVT.se (Swedish Public Service TV), an element of the United States government pressed for the closure of ThePirateBay.org.

Before that happened however, the article states the MPAA (Motion Picture Association of Amercia) requested that the United States Department of Justice (US DOJ) take action against ThePirateBay.org.

During a visit to the United States in April, the Swedish Minister of Justic Thomas Bodstrhahaha246;m was pressured by unspecified elements of the US government to eliminate ThePirateBay.org. Six weeks later, ThePirateBay.org was taken off line in a controversial raid that also claimed 200-300 other domains.

Slyck.com asked the MPAA to verify STV.se's information. Although specific details were not revealed, the MPAA spokesperson stated "Every major digital media owner in the world has been actively campaigning against The Pirate Bay - from Microsoft to Games to BSA to IFPI and the MPA."

FrankWhite 06-03-2006 07:37 PM

Carl Lundstrhahaha246;m, president of Rix|Port80 told Slyck.com hahaha8220;As I take it, they have bought new servers, installed back-ups and are already up and running tests in at least one foreign server centre.hahaha8221;

I cant believe theft is so acceptable in this industry, maybe its because most here dont create content so they dont have those costs associated with it.So its no big deal to them.

Brujah 06-03-2006 10:46 PM

Guba, a company that puts a web-interface to the Usenet groups has been tainted for giving access to adult content. The company today decided to split its adult content business into a separate unit. Guba, like nearly 90 other companies, is trying to cash in on the "online video hosting and sharing" business. Thomas Mcinerney, co-founder of the service emailed me and said, "We just open up Guba for free. No subscription required. Also, we've split adult content into a different brand - we're expecting Guba to be in the Alexa top 100 inside of 6 months."

gooddomains 06-04-2006 01:17 AM

can someone bring down guba please ?

Bro Media - BANNED FOR LIFE 06-04-2006 01:25 AM

they ain't doing anything wrong, and it aint hurting the industry, the people that go there to download porn do it because they wont pay for it, so what makes you think they will pay for it if TPB gets shut down?

Splum 06-04-2006 01:39 AM

kandah your content is on piratebay, didnt know if you knew that shrug
