FOR SALE: Boutique PC (High End)

To begin, here are the specs:
Silverstone TJ04 Case Silverstone 650W Power Supply Asus A8N32-SLI Motherboard Athlon64 X2 4200+ Dual Core CPU Zalman 7000 Series CPU Cooler (Qty 2) 1024MB PC3200 DDR-RAM = 2GB RAM Total (Qty 2) Western Digital 250GB WD2500KS Hard Drive in RAID 0 = 500GB HDD Total (Qty 2) nVidia GeForce 7800GT 256MB PCIE = Dual 7800GT in SLI Mode, 512MB VRAM Total Sony 1.4MB Floppy Drive Black Sony 16X DVD-ROM Drive Black LiteOn 16X Dual Layer DVD-RW Black Creative Labs X-Fi Xtreme Music This computer was built by the "boutique" shop Falcon Northwest, and hasn't even ARRIVED at my house yet -- this is BRAND NEW. Falcon Northwest was the FIRST "boutique" builder, and does a great job on their systems. Their website: http://www.falcon-nw.com I can sell this either WITH or WITHOUT a 24" (2405FPW, I think) Dell LCD Monitor. While waiting for this PC to arrive at my house, I got impatient and bought a different PC (FX-60, Quad video cards, lots of goodies), and now have no use for this one, even though it hasn't arrived at my door yet. This is a very expensive machine, and it can be yours for the price of a "regular" box -- it's going to the highest bidder. Available to be FULLY tested before purchasing, for serious buyers in the CT area, or for people with friends in the CT area they want to send in their place. I have this listed on a few sites -- highest bidder after a week or so gets it. |

"Backed by the groundbreaking technology of Quad SLI, the Aurora ALX unleashes the power of four NVIDIA® GeForce® GPUs within a single system for a truly breathtaking graphics experience. Quad SLI, which enables four graphics cards to work in tandem to form one image, lets you run your most demanding games at ultra-high resolutions up to 2560x1600 and at the smoothest frame rates possible. do you have a reserve? |

With everything (including the peripherals and all the shit), the system was just over $5,000. |

Very nice,i didnt know they existed but they take up 4 PCI Slots which doesnt leave you with much room to expand :) I also thought that the SLI option could only be used with the PCIe graphic cards :thumbsup to an excellent system |

when do you plan on ending the auction and selling it? when it arrives at your door? To be honest you would get more $ from parting it out and selling it in peices if it comes with all the original boxes and shit.

The only problem was that the sound card didn't have a place on the motherboard, until they found a way to use an expander. It's fine now, but I have to see A) how hot it runs (it's liquid cooled), and B) if it provides any "real" improvement in games over my current setup, which is Dual 7900GTX's in SLI. We'll see. Incidentally, I bought a core duo Intel Mac, too, and that's what I'm connected with now (put the PSP to bed before I got insomnia). $500 is still the high bid -- no emails from Craigslist yet or anything. |

In my past experience with Falcon, it comes in some nifty black boxes. I wasn't planning on opening it, except to take out my personal information and invoices, etc. The system itself comes "shrink wrapped." It's not about the money -- "parting it out" is more work than I'm willing to put into recouping some of my losses. Someone is going to get $5,000 worth of stuff for a pretty damn good price, and that's fine with me. I don't think it'll go TOO cheaply -- people who recognize the value in a boutique system (versus something that some snot-nosed kid cobbled together) may or may not currently be in the market for a new system. If they aren't, it's your lucky day -- $500, and you get a TON of system. You can probably resell it for close to $5,000, if not more, when you consider the people who hate to wait 2-4 weeks for a boutique system to be built, and are willing to pay a premium to "jump" the line. |

Ya got a $1000 bid here

Sounds like the high bid is $1,250. We nickel and diming this shit, or are we just going to go up to $2,000?
	 |

no need to pay more than i have to for the box ;)
	 |

btw, does the auction include the monitor or not. i assume that for 5k it came with the monitor as well?

It didn't include the 24" LCD in the original price -- I bought that separately, and for MUCH more than Dell is currently offering them for, unfortunately. I have a shitload of things I bought specifically for the Falcon Northwest box, though, that simply won't match my Alienware. I won't bother listing them -- they're a big "bonus" (certainly, dollar-wise, since I spent more on them than the current bid) if someone gets the system, but the box is the meat of what people are bidding on. High bid is still $1,250. |

 1300 here

Thanks for your bid, and good luck. P.S. -- got my first Craigslist bid, for $999. I told him he was already outbid, and pointed him here. |

He wants to just bump each bid by $50, which I am happy to do for him. $1,350 is the high bid, by drama. Good luck, though. |

thats dumb (on his part). I'm not going to do it because im not an asshole, but I could very easily just say 1900 to fuck with his bid...
good luck to the bidders |

I agree that you could do that, but if it's obvious, I'll just decline the "new" bid. I want it to be fair to everyone.
Are you out of the race, then? If drama drops out for some reason, you're the high bid with $1,300. Obligitory update: Current high bid is $1,350 by drama. |

Even at 2k for the box it is still a really good deal! |

It definitely isn't for the "duuurrrr, just build your own!" crowd. But you knew that. |

 $1,400 :winkwink:

Why didn't u buy Raptor drives for your raid ??
	10000RPM I've got a 4 raptor drives Raid0.. runs fast like hell |

Not only is the cost not justified, the performance gain is SO slim in my real-world experience that I'd feel downright silly for wasting the money AND ending up with such a small amount of overall space for the price to boot. It just isn't worth it, IMHO. |

I'm beginning to rethink the whole +$50 thing, drama. No offense, but it will make it too arbitrary. Please manually up the bids if you so choose, because this will be my last "automatic" re-bid for you. That way, if you feel a bid is fake or unwarranted, you can choose not to bid against it. I think we'll make the bidding "stale" up to $2,000 if we keep doing an automatic system. High bid is drama with $1,450. |

raptor drives are overrated, i /sigh each time i think about the money i wasted buying one.
