If this shit keeps up I'm switching my fucking hosting!

Hosting company switched servers yesterday and ever since my fucking site keeps coming up 404 like once or twice every hour....my images in my sig are broken and that's what alerts me. I go to my site and I get a 404 everytime...this has been happening for the past fucking 14 hours or so...my fucking traffic to my sponsors is like 1/4 of what it should be and I'm pissed!

BIGTYMER 06-02-2006 11:44 PM

Stick it to the man!!

aflex 06-02-2006 11:45 PM

I never had any significant problems until they switch servers yesterday...been with them for like two years..I'm going to give them they benefit of the doubt...but i don't want to get screwed over

does this server move require you to change your NS settings on your domain? If not, DNS could jus be propogating (sp?). Tell your hosting company its DNS related..

Who's the current host? might be able to give some better advice that way.

mrkris 06-03-2006 12:42 AM

Move to Tear2Hosting.com -- they'll make sure that doesn't happen.

Sparks 06-03-2006 12:56 AM

nestle 06-04-2006 01:17 AM

Why don't you just move to another host and get a refund?

Looks like I don't have a choice

flashbang 06-04-2006 01:28 AM

this could be that they have to update the root zone records for their name server configuration typically "named.root" Over time the main servers sometimes change ip's

it randomly selects which zone file to read from, well something like that

this stuff is what I mean
. 3600000 IN NS A.ROOT-SERVERS.NET.
A.ROOT-SERVERS.NET. 3600000 A 198.41.0.4
;
; formerly NS1.ISI.EDU
;
. 3600000 NS B.ROOT-SERVERS.NET.
B.ROOT-SERVERS.NET. 3600000 A 192.228.79.201
;
; formerly C.PSI.NET
;
. 3600000 NS C.ROOT-SERVERS.NET.
C.ROOT-SERVERS.NET. 3600000 A 192.33.4.12
;
; formerly TERP.UMD.EDU
;
. 3600000 NS D.ROOT-SERVERS.NET.
D.ROOT-SERVERS.NET. 3600000 A 128.8.10.90

command soemthing like "dig .ns >replacenamed.root" usually fixes this

selena 06-04-2006 01:30 AM

You have already shown more patience than I would have.

Then again, I'm a bitch about hosting stuff. While understanding that nothing is perfect, I do have very high standards for what I expect.

They are met with my current host, hosthead.com.

You don't have a choice - move now and save the stress :thumbsup

All the bollocks about waiting for a response is probably a good indicator of hell to come. Someone here should be able to set you up within an hour or so.

And.. good luck!

Dagwolf 06-04-2006 01:40 AM

I think I'll be changing one of my hosting companies very soon as well. :( Lots of downtime today.
