Kings Fans....WTF?

I'm gonna get flamed for this, but someone has to say it. Where was all the support for the Kings when they were getting smoked year after year? I can't swing a dead cat around here (I live in Roseville) without hitting someone wearing a Kings shirt, and EVERYONE claims to be a Kings fan now. Hey look, I'm all for supporting the home team, but these Johnny Come Lately Kings fans (which is about 99.9% of everyone rooting for the Kings right now) slay me.

I can't consider these people "true" fans. They've only recently jumped on the bandwagon because the Kings are doing so well this year, and will just as likely jump off when they get smoked again. I can respect people like Raiders fans, hell, they've been die-hard fans for years despite the fact that the Raiders sucked until Gruden took over. Given that my ex was a Raiderette, I went to every home game in 2000. The people are the very definition of die-hard, and tailgating was sort of like being in the yard at Quentin. God forbid you rooted for the other team, you were lucky to make it out of there alive.

So I ask all of you "new" Kings fans, who have blindly run out and bought the Kings hats, shorts, shirts, shoes, jock straps, and condoms just like so many lemmings, will you still be there when the Kings aren't doing so well?

I've never been a Kings fan and don't intead on starting now just because it's cool to do so. I just got a phone call from a female friend of mine who wanted to watch the Kings game tonight. Unfortunately for her, I had to tell her TO GO FUCK HERSELF, I couldn't care less that the Kings are in the playoffs, (or whatever the hell it's called in basketball, I'm a bodybuilder. All I know is lift weight, make big) I wasn't a fan before and don't intend on starting now just because everyone else has suddenly decided their life revolves around how the Kings do this year.

what do you mean, sort of? I thought Oakland-Alemeda's parking lot was the yard at San Quentin :1orglaugh

No shit - when Arizona won the NCAA tournament in 1997, everyone and their fucking uncle was suddenly a UofA fan. Not so many people wearing the Wildcat shirts when they got dogged by Utah the next year, or lost in round 1 to Oklahoma the year after that.....

The kings fans were in the same place the laker fans were when the lakers sucked a few years back.

Besides, don't you notice the all the flags on the cars that appear when the Lakers are in the playoffs but are non-existant most of the year?

I am sorry, but those flags do not fare well at 70 MPH, I can understand taking them down when there is no basketball being played. Besides, if you left them up all year, they would likely be stolen and sold at some freeway off-ramp the next day.

1 more reason to be a lakers fan. The organization is a solid one and will always be one of the top teams around.
