An AVS question...

For those of us too damn cheap to buy software to build our AVS sites, what does everyone think about the value of putting the pictures on HTML with top and bottom ads?
Worth the time, or just a big waste of effort?

Prolly a waste if your not going to take the time and build them without a program :/ I do what your saying in the members area though on some of my sites! Dont really see much difference at signup ratios though. just my :2 cents: imo wouldnt it be better to put a little personality into anything you build instead of a program doing it fer ya?

no need for a program to do that for you, but make sure the AVS you are submitting to allows you to do that, or it could be a huge waste of time.

Check my signature for the AVS with the most liberal of rules and the highest payouts and referral fees.

Worth the time.

If you want to make any money theres no sense playing around. Do things right or it just wont work

I'm not sure if you are aware that Thumbnailer, Smaller Animals, Arles & Thumbs Plus as well as a whole bunch of other thumbnail page makers have free trials. All of them will do this for you. With one signup you should be able to afford one of them and if you haven't gotten 1 signup within a 30 day trial then you should quit anyway.

Just my :2 cents: :2 cents: :2 cents:

Just make templates of files, i.e 01.htm, 02.htm, 03.htm .....

Remove the image size tags and voila. Change the ads when you are working on a new niche and save as a different template in a new folder.

This should take 10 extra seconds of your time, 15 seconds if you're slow!:1orglaugh

Hope this helps... Then watch your stats and see if it works better for you.

If you REALLY want to do pics on html pages, but don't want to spend the time to do the individual pages, the best solution is a single PHP page. You just pass it an arg that is the filename of the image and it displays it.. It's how I do all of my non-automatically generated pic pages. Much easier that way.

Not that I do a lot of them, but hey, every once in a while. ;>

Here it is, I cut all of the extra crap out and commented it a little bit..

pic.php.txt

You'd call it like this:

a href="pic.php?image=images/blah.jpg"

You'll have to save it as, IE doesn't want to display it as a text file as it's actually HTML

Cheers,
Backov

This can all be addressed with a simple OnClick Behavior ;)
