I have always converted better using them.

I was one of the first to use them and perfect them. In fact I think I was the one that perfected it.

And I can tell you its starting to come back down to earth.

It used to be quite unique and very effective.... But it has softened... Still effective, but not the power tool it once was. Not even close.

And to say surfers are stupid and will fall for things for years is just wrong.

I for one rememeber back in the day when "BANNERS" would sell well. REAL REAL WELL.. YEs you heard it right, just regualr ole banners..

Now days, and for the past 8 years, banners just dont do shit...... But there was a time when they did unreal sales.

Surfers are smarter than you think. ANd they are very easy to desenstize once they see a gimmick like a geo ad over and over again.

I agree with you 100%.

We do Geo fan signs for my site but I think the surfers like the custom ones better. They write me with a request and I create it for them and send it out the same day. They love it. :)

it's annoying go to a site and get it in spanish.. but oh well.. i guess they are not targeting a gringa in panama :tongue:

I remember selling banners for $8 CPM and getting return buys because the companies profited. Good luck getting $0.08 CPM now.

On our join pages we have drop down lists where they can change the language or country on the fly...giving them flexibility to whatever language they prefer. We service 240 countries with 36 languages. This keeps our translators busy well employed. :-)

I love the fact that I live in Canada, and yet, I see adds of girls with ASU shirts on them and written underneath is : Come see girls that go to school in *my town*

I've done some research recently and yes, they still fall for it.

Some wised up and realised it's a marketing gimmick, but majority still "buys" it.
