bastardsquad 05-31-2006 11:14 AM

brings a tear to the eye...:(

i had a 53 Oldsmobile for many, many years...i just sold it not to long ago...

from the pics it still looks in decent enough shape to save if you have the time and $$$...or you can do it yourself...

is it for sale?...

Screaming 05-31-2006 11:15 AM

man you could pimp the fuck outta that shit.

FlogTheLog 05-31-2006 11:16 AM

" Pimp Mikes Ride " thats a porn site right there :)

MikeVega 05-31-2006 11:21 AM

The only part that looked tough to fix was around the back window ... lots of rust. it looks 100% original ..even the tires. the interior wasn't that bad but would have to be torn out because it was just dried out. I'm kicking myself for not asking about it. it's only 2 1/2 hours away ..maybe I'll take a road trip.

I saw tons of old cars up there just sitting in yards .. it was sad

G-Rotica 05-31-2006 11:25 AM

it's a damn shame to see the classics rot away like that

DaLord 05-31-2006 12:03 PM

It's always very sad to see a piece of history fade away like that.
Imagine what a great car someone could get out of it if they put some love and work into it.

Gabriel 05-31-2006 12:09 PM

Yep '61, would make a nice lowrodder.

Mr. Romance 05-31-2006 12:10 PM

Azlord 05-31-2006 12:22 PM

I think the glass alone on that is worth some money.

shermo 05-31-2006 12:48 PM

Niceeee!! You outta snag it!

DutchTeenCash 05-31-2006 12:53 PM

damn

need to get it for a few 100 and pimp it again, thats an amazing car

CS-Jay 05-31-2006 01:11 PM

Being a Caddy Daddy since I was 16, that is just such a bad ass car. Pick up one of those hemmings (sp?) mags and see what those caddi's are going for.

And hell yeah, that bitch would make a bad ass low rider. I had an 83 couple, and I had a fucking blast with hydros on it.

Big Red Machine 05-31-2006 01:27 PM

My friend has a 62' all black, its sweet

Big Red Machine 05-31-2006 01:51 PM

Unless your Chip Foose that one is not worth touching. I saw one for 5K that was in good shape. So no need dumping 10K to just get that thing road worthy in primer. Dents are fixable ,rust has to be replaced

L0rdJuni0r 05-31-2006 02:00 PM

i wish i had money to get it and fix it up.

Cyndalie 05-31-2006 02:04 PM

Reminds me of the 69 firebird we've got rusting away in the driveway. Nothing like a 2 ton family heirloom!

giftedtwisted 05-31-2006 02:05 PM

2 door is a good find for that year

TexasDreams 05-31-2006 02:18 PM

Sadly, a lot of old classic cars meet the same fate.

http://www.carsinbarns.com/

This site is dedicated to all those cars we find along the roads, behind barns, in barns or wherever their owners left them. We have all been there "is it for sale?" "No, I'm going to fix it up someday." and sometimes this is true, however unfortunately for the cars it usually is not.

:waaaaahh :waaaaahh :waaaaahh

Spunky 05-31-2006 05:03 PM

That's a classic..I'm sure you can find many old caddies around nowadays because people can't afford to drive them anymore

OG LennyT 05-31-2006 05:07 PM

hardest part of restoring her is the fucking rust.... unless your a metal fab pro or have a ton of $$ to invest

RIP classic cars

tony286 05-31-2006 05:08 PM

thats a fucking shame beautiful car in its day

Fred Quimby 05-31-2006 05:14 PM

One time around 8 years old I put an umbrella throught the roof when I was getting in the back seat.

It was the only time my dad ever hit me

Miguel T 05-31-2006 05:15 PM

I love vintage cars. :thumbsup

HairToStay 05-31-2006 05:50 PM

I actually have a website built around the classics that I see as I drive around my area ...... tons of farms around here with classics parked in the front or backyard.

Here are a few seen locally, the last one at a dealership. These are all rotting and needing serious help.

It's all original (paint even) with like 80k on it. Its in pretty decent shape but for the weathering and normal shit that happens when a car sits. We keep it insured and tagged and all that. I dont have pics but I can take some. I'll hit you back when I get sum and think of it :)

Worldnet 05-31-2006 06:23 PM

I went camping this weekend also near Canton Georgia and there was this old mobile home with a shed out back. It was full of old cadillac's and old Mercedes. The cadillacs looked early fifties.

huey 05-31-2006 06:26 PM

Get off your wallet buy it and fix it up.

WWC-Pajio 05-31-2006 07:04 PM

.........buy it!! That's a nice babe.. :D

Helix 05-31-2006 07:06 PM

Make sure you check the frame. I've seen many a rotten frame on oldies that have been parked out back for years uncovered like that one.

MikeVega 05-31-2006 08:43 PM

I've been thinking about buying it but i know i wouldn't have the time right now to be involved in the rebuild and that's half the fun. The one Red sent me for $5k looks much nicer ..not much body work at all .. I'll get to building one sooner or later

My '70 Dart languishes unrestored for the same reason :(

Still, if you find a car you like, buy it, store it, and do what you can, when you can -- it's the process that's worthwhile

that's true ..even if it takes 10 years .. it's the reward at the end ...plus my son will have a kick ass car ...:thumbsup

I saw a bunch of great cars while up there ..maybe I'll head back up in a few weeks ... that caddi has been there for the past 3 years ... a few more weeks won't hurt

HairToStay 06-01-2006 03:25 AM

You can always find some local gearhead who loves older cars to do some of the work for a great price. I found someone willing to replace floor pans (I didn't need it though) from start to finish for about half the price my body shop would have charged.

Store it uncovered (so moisture isn't trapped under the cover) and some day you'll have a great project to work on and you'll be glad you did.

When I see something abandoned I now ring the bell and ask if they want to sell it. Can't hurt to ask. If they say no, I leave my number and tell them to call me if they ever change their mind.

It breaks my heart to see some of these classics just sitting and rotting
