Who will win tonight between Detroit and Miami?

I'd say Detroit wins this one, and then goes out in a blaze of glory in Miami on Friday, ending one of the most monumental collapses in the history of the NBA.. Never thought it would come down to this, but they did it to themselves.. And they WERE the better team.

Shaft_1971 05-31-2006 10:14 AM

It hurts me to say this but I think Miami will win the series. Detroit just doesn't seem interested in playing ball.

charchar 05-31-2006 10:15 AM

Miami all they way!

fl_prn_str 05-31-2006 10:20 AM

Miami must win.....hell they had enough foresight to hire Mary34D before she was the shit on this here forum.....

I agree. They don't seem to have any hunger anymore, nor any will to continue playing basketball. I don't know what happened but I don't really like Flip Saunders as much as I used to, and I appreciate Larry Brown 100x more than I used to, now. He taught them how to play "the right way" and they were invincible. I don't know how they lost their edge, it was a huge collapse. Maybe Larry Brown should come into their locker room tonight and give them a pep talk.

MasterSEO 05-31-2006 11:43 AM

Tonight:: Detroit will probably bounce back.

But with 3-1 advantage.. I think Miami will win the series.

redHOTrage 05-31-2006 12:12 PM

the poll is wrong :2 cents:

It wouldn't surprise me if Detroit came back and won the series, but doubtful. However, to say you think Detroit will probably lose the series but they are the better team is idiotic. They play a seven game series and thats plenty of chances to prove who is better. How can you call Detroit losing a "monumental collapse", being up 3-1 and losing would be a collapse, not down. They've struggled all playoffs, proving they were overrated much of the regular season. Detroit's offense is abysmal, they have to scratch and claw just to score 90 pts. Even their defense has been mediocre in this series, Wade is shooting 70%, geez.

gimo33 05-31-2006 12:21 PM

detroit...

MickeyG 05-31-2006 12:26 PM

The pistons are nothing but a bunch of whiney little bitches!!! Miami will continue to dominate. This better team stuff is a bunch of crap, we would have won last year also if it wasn't for the injuries, this time we're setting it straight. Go Heat!

loverboy 05-31-2006 01:45 PM

Miami is a different team compared to the loss they have suffered last year,
Shaq and Wade were injured that time thus they have failed to drill a shot
with the Spurs

yeah, not the inspired basketball Detriot used to play heading to the playoffs this year.

WebairGerard 05-31-2006 01:47 PM

Miami will close it out.

giftedtwisted 05-31-2006 01:50 PM

Right, Miami is the more hungrier team right now. Its the best time to give the likes of Payton and Mourning the RING they have long been waited. You don't get out a performance level from these veterans from the likes of Shaq or Wade but their overall presence in and off the court spells the difference for the Heat.

Typical fans.. No logic involved. "If the Heat weren't injured blah blah blah". Everybody has established that as bullshit, because we have all seen what the Pistons did to the Lakers, who were a lot better than these heat, in the 2004 Finals. My point is if the Pistons play the way they are supposed to, they are unbeatable, and this has been proven. Somewhere around game 3 against Cleveland, they lost it all, and yes that is what you call a monumental collapse. Going from the best or second best team in the past 3 years with one of the greatest defenses(if not the greatest ever), into a team that can't play basketball and that doesn't like playing basketball in 1 playoff series. That is a monumental collapse. They strayed away from their defense and from playing "the right way", how Larry Brown taught them. Miami HAS been the better team in this series but Detroit is the better team in terms of potential and facts. If any team can come back from 3-1 it is Detroit, although it's damn near impossible with the way they're playing. Not to mention the team that was supposed to epitomize perfect basketball and team basketball over the individual concept, has finally shown that it's all about the individual concept for them, which is a crying shame.. I looked up to these guys so it's hard to believe that this is all unraveling so quickly. Either way, Dallas or Phoenix will win the title, most likely Dallas.

MickeyG 05-31-2006 02:10 PM

more excuses from a pistons fan how typical. The bottom line is the pistons are NOT the better team the heat is, if they were better they would be winning not losing.

SxDx 05-31-2006 02:21 PM

who cares. just get the season over with! the NBA has a piss poor product right now. They're lucky D.Wade is still in the playoffs. He's probably the most exciting player in the game. Or at least he's up on par with Lebron

PaulB IYP 05-31-2006 02:29 PM

I've got my fingers crossed for Miami!
Rasheed can kiss some ass

Where are my excuses mr "Well they would have won if shaq wasn't injured"? You're not an NBA Expert, so maybe you should listen to NBA experts before offering your ludicrous Miami fanboy opinion. Nobody said Miami wasn't a good team, they are. But it is more of the Pistons self destructing than Miami killing them, and this has been shown time and time again. The Pistons haven't played their game since Game 2 against Cleveland, this is a FACT not an opinion. Learn to differentiate between the two.. The Western Conference will take the championship if Miami beats Detroit.

Mavs vs. Heat match up would be an exciting FiNals serious

still, my all out support to Miami :2 cents:

:smokin

The Demon 05-31-2006 02:49 PM

Interestingly enough the new NBA is all about matchups. For instance, if Detroit makes the finals they will most likely win because they match up very well with these teams. If the Heat make the finals, they will match up somewhat well with the Suns, especially since they have no answer for shaq, but the Suns would run them out of the building. They don't have the athleticism to compete with Phoenix. Only San Antonio, Dallas, and Detroit do. If the Heat play the Mavs, they won't match up well at all with the Mavs. The Mavs are a younger, more athletic version of the Spurs, and they have too many weapons for the Heat to deal with. I'd take Mavs over Heat in 5-6 games and possibly the Suns over the Heat in 7, or the other way around.

NTSS 05-31-2006 02:53 PM

I'm putting down all or nothing on Miami

sweetgirl2006 05-31-2006 02:55 PM

the heat of course...

Detroit barely beat the cavs and are now getting destroyed by the Heat yet you think they can win it all. You are no NBA expert you're a HOMER! Just admit it you hate the Heat and can't stand they're beating your ass! :1orglaugh

I'm not saying Detroit will win and the way they've been playing in the past 2 series, they wouldn't win against a #8 seed, but Rudy Tomjonavich said it best.. Never underestimate the heart of a champion

if anyones making a fool of themselves it's you. You keep blindly defending that group of has beens as if they are something special. They got lucky the last 2 years and now their luck has run out.

3-1 nuff said. :1orglaugh

Wait wait they got lucky the past 2 years, and I'm making a fool out of myself? WOW...

Again, says the one who considers the Pistons 2 year run as the most dominant team luck, and the Heat beating them this year ISNT luck.. I'm sorry, denial outweighs anything you just said.. But keep embarassing yourself, this forum needs a clown.

Spunky 05-31-2006 04:28 PM

My bet is Detroit by 10

Lol, I don't know where to begin with all your posts, they are so far off the mark. Step back for once, stop all the newspaper cliches and try look at things objectively instead of coming across as a blind homer. NBA success is all about teams adapting, teams adjust and counter, there is no "play the way they are supposed to". Miami has shut down Detroits offense just like Cleveland did and Detroit has been unable to adjust. Stop all this nonsense about monumental collapse, sure Detroit was favored to go to the finals but nobody assumed it was a done deal. What are these facts and potential that you claim make Detroit better despite the outcome? Its a best of 7 series, again, this is plenty of time to determine which is the better team, you seem unable to cope with the reality that if Miami wins they are a better team.

V_RocKs 05-31-2006 04:54 PM

Miami is for pussies... literally.

King Adam 05-31-2006 05:12 PM

I like Detroit tonight. They have to win and I think they will.

As for the series .. I still like Detroit. They didn't win all those games in the regular season for no reason. Phoenix was down 3-1 and came back. It can happen.

And the voice of reason is back.. Morons.. We'll see how this game goes, if they blow out Miami then they would temporarily have some momentum and the pressure would be 100% on Miami.

The Demon 05-31-2006 06:20 PM

Well it's half time and no surprise. The Pistons are up by four but there's absolutely no sign of them getting back to their old game. Their offense sucks, their defense is nonexistent, and only Billups and Prince have shown signs of life. Not to mention they can barely contend with a team with Shaq in foul trouble. I don't doubt the Heat can rest Shaq the entire game and still win.. It looks like the end.

Spunky 05-31-2006 07:50 PM

Pulls it off..good game

The Demon 05-31-2006 07:51 PM

Nothing really positive to show in that game up until 4 minutes left, when the Pistons FINALLY started playing like they did in Game 7 against Cleveland, and effectively shut down Wade and the rest of the team. This is the real Piston team and this is the team that needs to show up Friday, or it's over. But all of the pressure is now on Miami.
