So the shits hitting the fan here about this Haditha masacre story.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/mid...st/5030960.stm
Its making waves here but I dont see much on the US sites. Long story short - Roadside bomb kills 2 US marines - Marines go to nearby houses and murder 24 Iraqies in cold blood. Marines tried to cover it up but White House has addmitted they lied about it. Not good at all. |
It's been in the US news recently. A few minutes ago in fact on CNN again.
Evidently it was 6 months ago, and we're just learning about it. Pretty sad situation. |

I am happy that I can now take off the tinfoil hat that people here ( the same bush supporters ) said I should wear. I posted about this past november, only to answers such as : - they were insurgents< - they shoul't have been there - and the famous : Saddam is a bad man... This is now known because of videotapes .... how many massacres have really been commited??? |

"I was disturbed by the general day-to-day attitude of the American troops. They treated Iraqis with contempt, not like human beings. They had a complete disregard for Iraqi lives and property." Probably a lot more massacres in Irak, just wait a few years or so before the admit it... if they absolutely have to, No Gun Ri for example... |

It reminds me of football practice.. How do you keep everyone in line? one fucks up you all do laps... maybe with this shit going and the marines being a lil trigger happy, people who know where insurgents are wont be so eager to protect them if they fear some crazy soldier blowing off in their sand hut. Sometimes you need to fight fire with fire. That turn the other cheek shit only works in budhist monastaries and lesbian protests. duke |

and Im not a Budhist or a lesbian BTW :) |
If this suprises anyone , then i am suprised.. You stick a bunch of young guys on patrols in areas where everyone hates them , and they are getting picked off 1 by 1 by snipers and roadside bombs, watching their friends get limbs blown off, and you over-react. You have to feel some sympathy for the soldiers too. perhaps they felt like they were at the end of their rope , and hoped by murdering some innocent civilians , the locals would be scared into not cooperating with the insurgents thus "SAVING' lives
